These landlords charge top dollar for rent, but refuse to fix anything on their rental properties. Many of their tenants live in poor conditions. For example, the house that I rented from them was in such disrepair; it was in many ways unliveable and dangerous. When we first moved in the wall heater blew exhaust in the walls and carbon monoxide in the house. PG&E told us that if he had stayed overnight at the house and continued to run the heater, we would all be dead in the morning. They shut it down.

The landlords refused to send someone out to fix it. I had to go through the yellow pages to find a plumber and had to pay for it out of my pocket. The landlords refused to reimburse me, I had to deduct it from the rent. The carpet was disgusting with pet stains, they refused to replace it or have it cleaned. They currently trying to say we damaged it even though it was noted to the lease that the former tenants damaged it. Every chance they got, they would show up without giving notice and threaten to evict us even though we paid our rent on time every month and made repairs that they refused to do.

Additionally, they were responsible for the water bill every month. The water was shut of twice because they refused to pay the bills. The second time I put the water bill in my name and deducted it from the rent, so we would have running water. Also, they take rent money but do not make their house payments. Two of there rentals went up for auction in the same month. Somehow they got the public auctions postponed and out of default. Currently, 1 other tenant and myself have filed small claims cases against these people, becuase they refuse to refund our last month's rent and deposits. My case is pending and the other tenant has won their case.
