Oslo Hotel An overpriced slum. Avoid at all costs. Saint Kilda Victoria

I have been to this location a number of times and more recently for a longer stay of many months. This gave me a chance to see if legitimate concerns were ever addressed and if this was a short term problem. It is not, this is a chronic fraud and this proprietor sees no need in making anything right.

The conditions here are deplorable, that is true. You are expecting to pay over $300/week (CASH) for a stay in a place that offers the following:

Infestations of roaches, maggots, and other bugs running all over the place. I had bugs living under my sink that was not caulked at all, was loose, rusting and dropping rust bits all over the lower shelves. Bugs living in the furniture, they'd come out at night and jump into bed with you.

Repairs here are done by those who'd not even be called hobbyists and of course are done wrong and in a slipshod fashion, all in all not safe.

I'd not trust wiring, electrical switches that are worn out and not wired properly, they will sit and arc when on since they are 1/2 on and 1/2 off.

Circuit breaker boxes are full of dead and live roaches making them a bug hut, since nothing is installed or wired right or sealed.

Getting up one morning it as as though I had been mugged, bites all up and down my arms, on my feet.

You would see maggots running across the bathroom floors, roaches living in garbage in the common and shower areas.

We were without hot water for weeks when a heater broke. After it was "fixed" we had no hot water all day, only at off hours like 4am. It was like this still many months later and to the point I left.

Showers are not cleaned properly, they have debris and other gunk on the walls next to the toilet, glass shower doors just sitting off the tracks next to the wall and shower enclosure, useless. Some floors they are broke and have no shower heads with a sign telling us we need to use another floor for showers.

Laundry is useless and has no hot water, cold water wash only. If there is any place you want to use hot water, it would be here at Orwell Lodge.

Housekeeping seems to just run around all day seeing who is paying at the front desk, and then making a stink or talking to others so you have to stand at the top of the stairs waiting for them to get out of the way.

She just walked into my room without knocking on numerous occasions, once while I was standing there in my underwear and once while I was asleep. Completely odd.

For rooms that remain dirty and baths that are also, it seems all they do is generate chemical stink for no reason that we all have to breathe and then abuse the fixtures and toilets by slamming them shut all day long. It is really put offish. Abuse.

The proprietor is way too pushy on offers we need to attend a church since she claims to be a Christian. She gets into personal attacks and offers she knows her customers (Who she has never met) better than we do. It really is abusive and this is the next problem. She seems to support violent harm to others and essentially says we are to blame and we need to get over it, in her opinion about things she has no witness of, she just says "so what?". That ends it for me. And should for you also.

I'd call the proprietor at this point a felon and liar. AVOID this one at all costs.

 The original report stands and the situation is far worse in fact now.  See this as correction to the rebuttal, I had hoped things were getting resolved but they are not.

I am really shocked by some very false accusations in this review of my hotel. How is it allowed the this ex guest can accuse me and my management of being liars and thieves. He has not given any examples or evidence of this but is being extremely defamantory to me and my staff.

He has a gripe with the internet which is refundable if it is not used during their stay. If you dont use the internet card or its not working its doesnt diminish the time available on it. The comments to the kitchen being used by gypsies is racist and is ridiculous and unforgiveable. We supply shared kitchen facilities on the premises with many commercial stoves for all nationalities to use - we are a international backpackers. This guy has a gripe about everything - must be mental issues.

And to complain about the weather just sums up this very stupid review that doesnt surprise me with tripadvisor.

To the point one, his place is a slum as I said. Urine on the carpets, etc. It speaks for itself. Others agree.

To point two, the Internet was out constantly. This is like telling me he can refund me for the cold showers we took all the time. It does not help since we need it to work. The time accounting IS the problem but I said that also. It is clearly stated and otherwise he told those who purchsed it, that internet time is NOT refundable nor is any portion of your hotel room fees. AND he prefers cash only. This man's lies get worse and worse. And he is a man and I met him. So did others who stayed there.

Gypsys are vagrants and roving bands of criminals, they are not an ethnic group, a nation, or a race of people or a religion. They are homeless people who wander around and do crimes. This person is getting more and more lost. This is akin to telling me I am biased against felons since I like to hang out with those who steal money from me less than $1,000 at a time. I don't like Nazis either but then again I don't have to since they are not a recognized race, religion, or nation. They would be criminals. I'd say the prejudice is this person's since he seems to pretend to know something about me personally even though we never met before I checked in, he never bothered to see who I am, and he will never know who wrote this review, male or female.

To point three, this person has no idea who made this review, male or female, and even if he did, he does not know me personally at all and never checked my ID even upon registering with him. Now I have mental issues? How so? And I have a gripe about EVERYTHING? Where did that come from, on this site I have 3 total reviews, if he bothered to even read them. His, and two other positive ones. Wrong there also is he.

The weather does matter since this is, tourism? What did he hope to offer there? St Kilda's weather is always cold and rainy and we had about one month of summer, the rest cold and rain. Keep in mind we are discussing travel and tourism and not rocket science here. And the location is bad, prostitutes hanging around, guys driving all over the place doing Uturns to chase them, I witnessed one couple having sex on the ground next to one parking lot, outdoors! Cars getting broken into with glass all over the place.

This person is clueless and if you can't see problems then you won't fix them. He won't fix them. Attacking people who he can not confirm the identity of two levels deep is a lost cause since finding fault with me does not make his bad ethic and dirty hotel problems go away. And by that he claims to do the impossible. Excuse his bad policy and laziness by finding fault with his victims. I would have avoided calling anyone who has concerns mentally ill since this would not be his place to do so. Even assuming he could know who checked in, who complained, and who they really were actually.

Don't be a victim and don't go there since it now looks like Oslo Hotel is really putting you on trial for your sins. Maybe you are a witch now too? Better watch out he might diagnose you as being mental and pop some Valium in your orange juice when you leave the room, wink wink.

The hole becomes deeper every time this person opens their mouth.

Now he is blaming TripAdvisor since the weather matters not and this must be their fault too? Avoid this idiot.
