Recently I had to replace my debit card that I had lost, which is the only form of charge card I have. I just received my new card less than a month ago. Since then I have not used it to make a single transaction. The only times I have used the new card is at my bank's ATM and to set up my auto insurance account to transfer funds when due.

I received by bank statement and saw that PW EAUCTIONS had taken $59.90 from my account. I had never heard of this company and certainly not done any business with them. The first thing I did was Google them and pages of reports about being ripped off by these people came up. Obviously these guys were scammers so the first thing I did was go to my bank and filed a dispute. They said my money would be temporarily replaced until the conclusion of an investigation. That is as good as it gets so I was pleased.

I then went home, called the number they billed me from, and connected with the billing department. I told the guy I had a charge from his company that I knew I had not made. He said I had purchased some software off some website. I exclaimed that I had done no such thing. He said that all he could do is cancel "my subscription" so no more funds would be taken. I told him that my bank would be investigating the charges and he got smug and told me to feel free to report them to my local law enforcement agency. That pushed me beyond my tolerance and I ripped into him. Not the best thing to do, but seemed appropriate at the time. His responses seemed prepared and on top of that he was basically daring me to try to do something about it. If alarms of a scam weren't going off before I called, they certainly were after.
