Palm Harbor Homes Cut corners on building home and lied vidor, Texas

Husband and I went into Palm Harbo Homes in Vidor TX and spoke with Trey Melchor, the general manager about what we were looking for and the monthly note budget. He showed us a home we liked, we told him what we were willing to cut corners on and what we Would Not cut corners on. We also wanted a wall constructed to seperate the kitchen and livingroom, no problem, it would be an extra $1400 which was included on the financing. We also paid for the entire home to be taped and textured, no vinyl panels. All was a go. We put down $10,000. After we signed papers, he comes back with a note that was not in our budget and when we said we couldn't afford it, he didn't care. We asked for our money back and he said since we ordered a custom built home, we'd only get back half. He smugly told me I had two options, get the house or forfeit part of our down payment. I had to go over his head to his boss to take care of this matter and Tom informed me that our home was almost ready for delivery and it was custom and that was how they done business, even after I told him we couldn't afford the note. After speaking with him for a while, Tom Middlestat was his name, he worked to get our note down where it was supposed to be. I was greatful. So we get the home delivered and there has been many changes. The most noticeable is the blacksplash behind stove, kitchen and both baths. When asked about it, they said it would all be fixed. They also promised a dishwasher, which is included in writing in our paperwork, there is no dishwasher. They told us they would make good on everything, not to worry. 14 days later, without word from trim out people, my husband has a meeting with Trey and his boss, Tom. Tom discloses that the half tiles would not be changed because they cut corners to get our note down and that Trey knew about this even though he lead us to believe it would be fixed. When asked, Trey admitted he knew about them going to do it, but "forgot" to tell us. (He wanted to make a sale and thats why he didn't tell us because the tiles were one of the things we loved.) But Trey said that we would get a dishwasher and since we changed our minds about the wall, we would be getting a $450 gift card, even though the original wall price was $1400. So on the third week, trim shows up without supplies and talks with me about putting up vinyl caps on my marriage wall, even though i paid for tape and texture. So I said no, it was supposed to be done right. So he calls Trey and he comes out to my home, without calling, and asks me my concerns. I tell him about the cheep caps and he said thats how its done on the lots. He said we can pay extra to have those tape and textured, even though we've done paid for that. Even the trim guys thought it strange to cap tape and textured walls on a home that would not be moved. He keeps reminding me of getting my note down and I yelled at him, told him he was only interested in making a sale, that was why he witheld information about certain things, he didn't care that we were not pleased and that I'd be danged if I would sign off on shoddy work when I already paid for it.I called him a crookand I told him get out of my house and off my property. I then informed his boss, whom by the way never answers his phone so I left a voicemail, that I didn't want Trey to come here any more and that I would deal with someone else, just not him. So the following day, the trim people call and said they wouldn't make it out to work that day and when I call Palm Harbor, no one calls me back. Then my husband finally speaks to Trey and he informed him that now, I'm sure since I insulted him, we would either get the dishwasher or the $450 gift card. Even though a dishwasher was included in our package and we already paid for the wall. They hung up while he was still talking, childish if you ask me. Things that are different on our home is the tile, smaller ventahood, cheap cabinets, different bathtub in masterbath, no plumbing for icemaker, no dishwasher, wrong colors throughout home. They do not care. We also traded in our older mobile home with the $10 grand we put down and they agreed we could reside in it for 30 days until our home was finished, then I came home one day and found two strangers inside my home and they informed me that Palm Harbor gave them permission to come view it. Trey then called a couple days later and said he was bringing a man out to see it. I was in the process of getting blood and told him I wouldn't be there and my gate was now locked. He said he'd be there around 4 and I told him I wouldn't be done by then so I told him to come get the trailer on Monday, this was Wednesday. And he was okay about us being homeless, even though we have a toddler. The man does not care about anything other than making a sale. They will promise you anything, and even though it is in writing, they will not solve the issue.They make you think they are concerned with your needs, but when you sign the papers and put down money, you are screwed!!!!
