I pulled into the Walmart parkinglot around 8:55am, and walked to McDonalds which shares a parking lot with Walmart. I ate my breakfast, and then walked to Walmart to do my shopping. When I came out to my vehicle I found an orange paper on my window, and a boot on my tire. The reason listed on the notice was that I was not a current customer, odd as I had just spent money in both businesses utilizing the parking lot.

I removed the notice from my car and went into Walmart and asked to speak with a manager. I was given handed off from manager to manager until finally an assistant manager AJ called the Asset Manager Cody who proceeded to tell me that it was not Walmarts problem because the booting company was a private contractor. I showed him my reciept that totaled $136, and the time stamp on the reciept which was 30 minutes after the timestamp on the boot notice. The asset manager still insisted that it was not his problem, despite me arguing that the towing company was working under the authority of Walmart, and I was booted for not being a customer when infact I was inside their store when the booting occured. He still insisted that there was nothing he could do.

Because the Walmart personel were unwilling to assist me I decided to go out to my car and work with the booting company. On my way out to my vehicle I was confronted by two individuals, Chris Dallies, who claimed to be the owner of the company, and his cohort who refused to give his name. They approached with a threatening attitude, and told me that they would only remove the boot once I paid $80 in cash. I told them that I did not have cash on me, and the sidekick said "We take credit cards also." I showed them my reciept, and asked that they remove the boot from my vehicle, but they became more agressive and threatening, and insisted that I needed to pay them before they would consider unbooting my vehicle. I must admit that I became angry and returned their language to them.

I realized that I was becoming too angry to talk with them, so I walked to my vehicle and started making calls until I was connected with the General Manager of the Orem Walmart. I explained the situation to him, and he said that it was becoming a problem with that company. He said he would call the owner of Parkway Authority, Chris, and tell him to take the boot off my vehicle.

Chris and his companion waited for over an hour after the call before they would remove the boot from my tire, and tried to intimidate me by walking around my vehicle holding their phones up as though they were recording me, and making threatening suggestions telling me that they have my information and know where I live. After nearly an hour of this I called the manager again and asked if he had spoken with Chris, he was surprised that the boot had not been removed, and said that he would call them again. It was obvious when the call came through because they were both clearly upset, but the lackey did come over and take the boot off, while threatening me that he had my information, and knew how to find me.

I should have contacted the police, but I was too angry to think about that until I was driving away.

Bigger question

AUTHOR: Joe - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, November 15, 2018

It will please you to know that I have contacted the authorities, so that should ease your mind. As for contacting McDonalds, the paper specified that I was in violation of the Walmart parking, so it fell under the purview of Walmart. My big question for you is: why are you listing yourself as a consumer when in fact you are a vested partner of the company in question? Care to answer that one Robert?

The big question

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, November 15, 2018

You failed to answer the big question of why you did not talk to the McDonalds Manager.  The reason is of course you knew that you parked illegally.

Now, as for the threats, yes that could fall under the jurisdiction of law enforcement. But there was nothing keeping you from contacting them after you left the premises. In fact it is generally considered safer, if at all possible, to get out of "harms way" before attempting to contact the police.  Yet you didn't(and I presume still haven't). So perhaps if you still feel thretened maybe your next call should be to them to file a report.

Good Luck

Shared parking

AUTHOR: Joe - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 14, 2018

In fact they do share a parking lot, and when I am there next I will take a pictue to post, something I should have done while I was there. As for contacting the police, I was refering to the threats and intimidation which Chris and Clif were practicing. Since you are so knowledgable, you should know that threatening someone with bodily harm, and telling someone that you know where they live and that you can find them and their family do indeed fall under the jurisdiction of the police.

Shared Parking Lot

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 14, 2018

If you went to the McDonalds and as you say they "share" a parking lot with Walmart, when you went to complain why didn't you go to the manager of the McDonalds? Especially after Walmart gave you no assistance?

Don't worry about answering as it is very obvious. The McDonalds is next to Walmart but they do not "share" the parking lot and you knew this. You parked in the Walmart parking lot and left the premises,  hence the reason you were booted.

Oh and all the timestamped receipt shows is that you could have seen the boot leaving McDonalds and then decided to shop at Walmart to try and make a case that you were a customer.

As for the police, all they would have told you is that it is a civil matter and if you have issues you would have to take them to court.
