This is not concerning a ripoff more so than a WARNING to all who read: Avoid doing business with Pars Cars / United Auto Acceptance at all costs.

Due to some previous hardships I was in need of a car and unfortunately had to settle on a "tote your note" establishment ie. Pars Cars. First off, they lure you in with radio advertisements suggesting that if you walk in with at least $1500 down you can pretty much leave with anything they have on their lot. They also claim that your credit does not matter and as long as you have steady employment you're good to go. Not the case! I viewed, online, a vehicle I was interested in and went down to the lot with $2k down. I had already done my research on the vehicle and based on the year, make, model, condition and mileage knew roughly what would be a reasonable sales price. Again, not the case!

They ran my credit and later informed me because of my score that they would require @ least $4500 down with some ungodly monthly payment (keep in mind that the interest is @ 14%). Needless to say they were trying to sell this 7 year old vehicle with high 1xx,xxx mileage for nearly $7k over bluebook listed in excellent condition, which it wasn't. After being very blunt and upfront that I was in no mood to have my time wasted, I finally settled on a fairly nice vehicle @ a fair price. Not really what I wanted but at this point "beggers can't really be choosers". However, I was still ticked off with all the stall tactics, etc. This is definitely not a pleasant car buying experience.

Luckily I'm pretty mechanically inclined, and although I had to only replace the starter, once you leave this place you WILL get the feeling that you're pretty much on your own if the car turns out to be a money pit. They have a repair shop onsite but take it from a skilled mechanic when I tell you the only thing they do is "band aide" a problem they find on the cars that come in. At least long enough to get you through 60 days of ownership. While waiting for my paperwork I just sat and watched.

United Auto Acceptance is the financing institution to which all your payments are made.

1) If you use your checking account to pay all your bills, well you can forget about it with this place. If you do end up sending a check, they try to do a direct withdrawl from your account that same day. If your banking institution is at all strict and is the least bit concerned with fraudulent activity against its customers, they won't allow this type of transaction from some second rate LLC passing off as a finance company.

2) They contradict all the payment due date terms on your agreement, provided at the time of purchase, with their own terms. My contract clearly stated due dates of the 15th and 30th of each month. After a nasty message from one of their reps claiming I was late, I found out the payments are every other Friday. WHAT!!! This really wasn't a problem but what really pissed me off was the message that was left. They threatened to repocess the vehicle and if they couldn't find it they'd issue a warrant for my arrest. Of course I immediately called back to let them know that I wasn't some blind ignorant consumer susceptible to bullying especially when, according to my contract, my payment wasn't even due yet.

3) Very unorganized and obviously doesn't pay attention to your account. Most of the time I drop my money order off in the mornings before work when they're closed. Of course by the end of the day I'm getting a phone call and/or message claiming that my file is under review for repossession because there's no grace period. This has happened on numerous occassions, sometimes twice a day because the woman doesn't even remember talking to me early and telling her that I dropped my payment through their mail slot. Naturally she ends up locating the payment, but this seems to be an ongoing problem with them. Now, I send her straight to voicemail and don't even listen to the message.

4) Overall, they are under the impression that everyone who does business with them is a low class, dishonest and ill-informed consumer. Hence the harassing and threatening messages to issue warrants for arrests and what not. It's takes every last bit of self-restraint to not go off on these people when they can't get their act together.
