I was the victim of identity theft when I chose to purchase some books for my child over the internet. It all begin when I participated in trying to receive a gift card from Target. They take you through all these other links leading you to believe that you have a choice as to whether or not you would to like to participate in these various links such as Passport to Fun, Today's Escape, I guess. I only opted to buy some books for my child; which I'm still paying for & is another can of worms. Everything else dealing with this site, I selected no over & over again. Since that time, I have received numerous e-mails from this site that I thought I had the choice to reject--but as I have come to realize was not the case.

Passport to Fun/Today's Escape sent my checking account into overdraft; & not only did I have to pay for the unauthorized fees that they charged me, but several overdraft fees; which in the end resulted in over $250.00. I called Passport to Fun/Today's Escape and they refunded $19.95 x 2 plus two-dollar charges that they charged me; which in reality, I was actually charged $1.00 three times.

They gave me a fax number to call when they told me that they were going to refund my account that turned out to be a fax number to another business not associated with them. So after wasting time, energy, & money (faxing 8 pages from Staples & Office Depot approximately $12.00 each), I called them the next day to get the real number. By the way, the number that I called to get a operator/customer service associate has been changed; instead of being able to speak w/an associate, you get a series of voice request & if your account has been cancelled like mine was suppose to be, you will be disconnected.

Even after all that, I was charged by Member's Savings; also associated with Passport to Fun/Today's Escape. This time they sent some costume jewelry w/an invoice stating that I only had to pay shipping & handling which was simultaneously taken out of my checking account again. Speaking of again, Passport to Fun has taken out another $1.00 charge from my checking account as of 8/7/07. When I called to see what was going on, a recording stated that my account was cancelled 8/6/07-how convenient but not w/o being charged first.

Oh yeah, the results of the fax: I received a letter w/member ID number stating that since I chose to become member, I must incur the blame resulting in paying the overdraft fees myself. They were courteous enough to enclose a number that no one ever answers & never returns messages.

So in the end my only advice would be to NOT participate in any gift card of any sort because these sites attach themselves to your "cookies" and other important information that you might have on your computer. I also tried to file a complaint w/the Better Business Bureau concerning Passport to Fun/Today's Escape, apparently their information has not yet been filed w/them yet--surprise, surprise.
