My Roommate and I, went through a moving company called Patriot Moving (www.PatriotMoving.com).
November 23, 2004, Melissa was told by the customer service Rep, Christopher Sariol that the move would take 7 to 10 days and estimated it at $2,700 for 4,500 lbs. with a 300 lbs. padding. He also told her that price included fuel charges, packaging of glass table tops and packaging of pictures along with supplying wardrobe boxes. The $2,700 was a pre-paid quote. She agreed to prepay to receive the $300 discount. Christopher had her commit to a $1,000 deposit (pending approval from the manager for the pre-pay) he then faxed over the paper work, she filled out the proper forms and resent them.

Sunday, November 28th the mover's arrived 10 hours late with no wardrobe boxes and said it would be an addtional $1,000 for the packing of our glass tables and pictures. The moving company, Pony X-Press then told us if we canceled we would lose our $1,000 deposit. Considering we we're suppose to be leaving in 2 days and after they dropped the packaging charge to $345 instead we agreed.

December 3rd, 6th and the 7th we left serveral messages wanting to know what date our stuff would be arriving there was no response.

December 8th after calling over and over again to a receptionist that would not give his name, I finally demanded to speak with a manager immediately or I would be forced to call the police and report our stuff stolen amazingly the manager, Nancy got on the phone. She said we would need to contact Pony X-Press to find out our delivery date. Concerning our extra "packaging charges" she stated Christopher never made such promises and basically stated it was our fault that over the weekend she could not approve our pre-payment to get our discount so we would not receive it. I then tried calling Pony X-Press (888-476-6999 or 847-674-3723; 8025 N. Keating Ave., Skokie, IL 60076) there was no answer or any voicemail recording on either number.
Day thirteen, after letting the phone ring for 4 minutes there was an answer at Pony X-Press. The rude man on the other line who continuely cursed said our stuff would be delivered next week and hung up abruptly. (Dec. 13th - 17th)

Next week arrives, still nothing. Again no answer at Pony X-Press and no response from messeges left at Patriot Moving. We then accrued a lawyer, Derek Emge (619-595-1400) and we are presently putting a class action suit together. Patriot Moving tells him at the end of this week which would be Dec.16th/17th. Our lawyer then gets the same run around and then is finally told by Nancy at Patriot Moving it would be "next week sometime" and our total cost would be $1,000 deposit already paid plus $2,955 at time of delivery for a grand total of $3,955. It is now day 20 and still no response as to exactly when we might be recieving our furniture. Again, no returned phone calls from Patriot Moving and no answer at the Pony X-Press.

It Is Your Responsibility

AUTHOR: Donica - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 21, 2005

If you accept a job then it IS your responsibility to make sure you have equipment available to do the job. It IS your responsiblity to make sure your trucks are maintained properly, and if for some reason you CAN'T get one of your trucks to finish the job in a timely manner, then you suck it up and pay to have it contracted out to another company that can. It's YOUR reputation on the line.

I worked for a bus tour company and there were times when we took thousand dollar losses because a bus broke down and we had to give the business to another company and pay the difference if they charged more than we quoted the customer.

Nobody feels bad for you. Have a nice day.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

So why did you accept the contract from NMN/Patriot?

AUTHOR: Sharon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 20, 2005

It never ceases to amaze me that NMN/Patriot blames the mover for not following its estimate, and mover blame NMN/Patriot for not providing them with all the estimates' info. Yet movers like Pony X-Press continually accept bids from NMN/Patriot.

Ori, this is not the first complaint out there against your company, so stop trying to make it seem like one upset customer is ruining your business. Why are you not writing angry letters to NMN for not giving you all of the information, leading to this miscommunication? Why is it always the customer's fault when something goes wrong?

NMN/Patriot has a widely known reputation in the moving business as a scam broker. Unfortunately, the word has not spread to the general public until after they've been scammed. But this rep is sufficient to weed out reputable companies from NMN's client base, so all that's left are scammers and otherwise sad little companies that are more interested in skimming a quick buck from the little guy than in doing a move right.

Ori, you do realize that NMN/Patriot accepts about a 40% deposit on the estimate easily, then leaves it to the movers do do all the dirty work and take the hassle. Why do you let them do this to you? They can only stay in business if scammers keep accepting their bids.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

These are false eligations

AUTHOR: Ori - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 19, 2005

These customers were given a non binding estimate thru Patriot Moving For the Shipping of their items from Minnieapolis, MN to San Diego, CA the price included the line haul for 4500 lb and fuel charges for a total of $3055.94, this price does not include any additonal services i.e second pickup location, packing & labor.
On the day of the pickup 11/28/04 our crew came and told the customers that she would have more weight than estimated and have additional packing charges that were not in the estimate and that the we were unaware of a second pickup address and that these were additional cost.

The customer stated that they were included in the estimate but they were not on our order for service that we recieved from Patriot Moving.
My foreman decided not to charge her for the packing of the boxes she had and she decided to use our services we did not charge her for the second location either. Her total weight ended up being 5120 lb which is 620lb over weight. Because her load ended up being much larger tha exepted we could not fit it on the intended semi out to the west and would have to be shipped out on the next truck leaving towards CA. Usually these trips take between two to three weeks at a time. We did give the customer an addendum which is a new estimate for the services required to do the job before the crew started working, we did not obligate her to move with us but she proceeded to use our services.

We know it might have taken more time than uasual but our trailer had mechanical problems and had to be repaired numerous times over the course of the month. but these are problems not under our control. Because we are a new company we do not have a unlimited number of trucks sometimes these situations do happen. These aligations are giving false information to our future customers if Patriot Moving mislead the customer we are sorry but we were upfront from the begining.
Feel free to email me if you like.
