I have made a local call from the pay phone at the Chicago airport on 22/4/2012 for a minute using my visa credit card. Expected charges are less than fifty cents. The machine did not accept the coins and I was forced to use credit card. To my surprise, the credit card was charged an amount of 19.98 USD .

When I contacted the icici credit card dept to check whether there is any conversion mistake, they asked me to produce the receipt. The pay phone does not provide any receipt.

I would request all the concerned to examine the process of billing / charging the credit card and correct the possible mistakes.

I would also request for the refund of the 19 USD charged unreasonably. Thanking you

Similar but worse thing has happened to me

AUTHOR: Ming - (United States of America)

I'm a graduate candidate at University of Maryland. I went to University of Illinois, Urbanna-Champaign, IL, to visit one of my friends there. When i was about to get on board my flight in O'Hare Airport, i found my cell phone is missing. After a flash of blank in my brain, my first thought was that i might left it at my friend's home. And later things turned out to be exactly as i thought. But at that time i was too nervous to choose to use the public pay phone at the airport. Since i didn't want to bring any troubles to myself at the security check, i didn't bring any coins along with me. After read EVERY words printed on the phone, and saw NOTHING talking about charges of NO success connection, i used the phone with my credit card. I tried five times and my friend didn't pick up the phone during every single time of these. That means i dialed 5 times and none was connected. No i'm looking at this bill -- five $24.23 charges on that day. I don't hate anyone, surely there are some cunning people should be blamed, The only thing I want now is that i could somehow get my money back. I don't want to waste too much time on this thing since i got a thesis need to be worked on. But still, about $120 is not a small amount of money.

Please, anyone knows how to solve it, please contact me!
