Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

Paypal allows fraudulent sellers to rip off customers, and does not back up the customers who pay the costs.  I made what I consider a major diamond purchase using paypal.  When the item arrived I had it appraised and found that it was several grades lower than advertised.  I sent it back to the company with the appraisal asking for my money back.  They kept $350 and paypal refused to do anything claiming that if I had used ebay instead they would have treated it differently.  PAYPAL PARTICIPATES IN THE FRAUD BECAUSE THIS PARTICULAR COMPANY DOES ALOT OF BUSINESS THROUGH PAYPAL.

Paypal also rips me off with currency exchange.  I have a US dollar account and paypal refuses to allow me to use US dollars to send to my US dollar account in Canada.  They take the exchange fees to convert to CAN dollars and then my bank refuses the funds because its a US dollar account, so it goes back to paypal but in CAN dollars.  I am then charged an exchange fee to convert back to US dollars for my purchases.  RIPOFF.  PAYPAL is ripping millions off of everyone.  They hold funds in limbo for several days during transactions using their client's money to earn interest for their own benefit.  RIPOFF

Well think what you want...

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

...but you were not ripped off by they have your money???? Do they have the diamonds?

PayPal is NOT an insurance company or a baby sitter...get real. You got scammed but it was NOT by can't admit you took a stupid risk and lost?

I know paypal seems like the bad guy. No one likes to hear the bad news so they want to kill the messenger..that is human nature, I understand. But sometimes you have to face reality or you will make the same mistakes again.

Ronny, at least I addressed the points in your choose to defend Paypal position which I find biased and suspicious in the extreme.  Perhaps you are also a fraudulent seller using paypal outside Ebay?  You do have more than a passing interest in paypal as evidenced by the vigor of your defense of paypal.  You could at least address specifically my issues.

Perhaps you have never had any issues with Paypal...I do hope that changes so you will understand that Paypal does do things that are WRONG and that hurt their real clients...those that pay.

Happy Halloween to you too Stacey. But don't mistake me for Jerry Brown. Other then the fact that I still have all my hair..I don't think this state needs another Democrat. I know the current "governator" is supposed to be a Republican..but he is a Democrat.

I do have my concerns with Meg as well. she may outsource the entire state to India.

It is a well known fact that yo work for Paypal, Best Buy, eBay and at least two tow truck companies that wait for people to park in unauthorized places so you can impound their vehicles.

I do not represent PayPal..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

..but since I have internet businesses and use PayPal, complaints against them are a concern to me.

I understand why many think PayPal has horrible customer service. It is always angering and frustrating to be on the losing end of a dispute, or a policy that did not work out in our favor.

But unless you can post any evidence that PayPal scammed is just venting because you did not like a policy, considering you were not forced to use PayPal.

The purpose of PayPal is to make online transactions safer, but it is not their purpose to hedge your bets or rescue you if you take stupid risks or purchase stuff from other countries and screwed up scam auction sites. Bidz,com...I am laughing so hard I think I lost a piece of lung...

I have regained composure enough to ask you..please, please warn people to stay away from those types of auctions..regardless of how they pay they are going to eventually get scammed and no matter if they blame PayPal or is an EPIC FAIL.

BIDZ.COM sold the diamond to me.  THIS complaint is against Paypal.

If you represent Paypal or Ebay you should so state.  It is obvious that you are representing the interests of Paypal.  Paypal is now well aware of the scam that they are facilitating with and is not acting as an upstanding corporate citizen in allowing to scam consumers using Paypal, period.

Perhaps a more detailed explanation of the currency exchange RIPOFF is warranted.  I hold USD in my Paypal account.  The USD is my PRIMARY Paypal account.  I have a USD Mastercard which I use to make payment to Paypal.  I am linked to a USD bank account which I hold in Canada.  No Canadian dollars.  I was send a refund in USD by an Ebay seller.  Through my Paypal account I requested a transfer of USD from my Paypal account to my USD bank account - I SELECTED USD for the currency transaction because I knew that my bank could not accept Canadian dollars.

Paypal then unilaterally chose to change the USD into Canadian funds and charged me the exchange rate PLUS A TRANSACTION FEE.  This is wrong - I chose the USD selection available to me in the transaction.  When my USD account could not accept the transaction, Paypal kept the funds in Canadian dollars in my account.  When I make payments with these funds in USD Paypal charges me the exchange rate PLUS A TRANSACTION FEE to change currency.  RIPOFF - Do you now understand?  No?  I expect that you have some other ridiculous argument ON BEHALF OF PAYPAL to defend the indefensible.

Regarding funds in limbo between the buyer and seller, this is not being done on my behalf.  The funds are not being left in my account until such time as I confirm that I have received the goods.  There is nothing for me to be "glad" about here.  I DID post the reason that Paypal stated why they refused to to do anything, if you would read the posting, - they would prefer me to do business on Ebay, period.

I AM angry that ripped me off for 350 USD on a purchase of over 1000 USD when they promise a full refund if proof can be shown that the goods were not as advertised.  I paid for an appraisal that DID prove a huge difference in diamond quality.  I am also angry that Paypal continues to facilitate business with these scam artists and and shrugs there corporate shoulders to those that "pay the freight".

Why are you blaming PayPal?

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

Who sold you the diamonds? Aren't they the ones you should be lodging a complaint against? Why no information on who they are so if anyone else wants to buy diamonds from them they can use more caution?

PayPal has policies regarding what they will and will not protect and why, you need to know this BEFORE you make a purchase. They are owned by eBay and the reason you have better protection is because on eBay the seller has to deal with the rating system. So if the seller is not doing the right thing, the buyers are able to read about the transactions, and make an educated decision if they wish to deal with the merchant. Also eBay scrutinizes the sellers and has them ALL post the return/refund/exchange/shipping policies etc/ hence making the transactions safer. But the buyer still needs to beware.

Has far as the currency exchange rate PayPal does not set that. Why are you not complaining that YOUR bank is refusing the funds?

As far as any money in "limbo"..that is what PayPal does. If you never got the diamonds you would be glad PayPal held the funds. As far as a refund/return what was the policy as per the merchant? PayPal does not control that. If you believe that the merchant defrauded you and that PayPal did nothing why don't you post the reason PayPal told you they will do nothing.

You have a right to be angry for this, but it is wise to direct the anger at the people who did you wrong. And it is nice if you got scammed by a merchant and report it here, to let others know who it is so we can check them out for ourselves.

And a suggestion for you...This is stated on PayPals website and is good advice. Credit cards often allow chargebacks that PayPal will not. But a great benefit of using PayPal is that you do not have to give out personal bank and CC information to unknown sellers. So what PayPal to use a credit card to pay through them. Then if there is a problem, you can do the chargeback from your credit card, and the scammer has no information that can be later used for "unauthorized" charges or identity theft. USE the not let the system use YOU, or you are left holding the bag and have no one to blame but yourself.
