Paypal limited my account and after numerous calls all I found out was it was because of similar IPs and I got a name on the account they linked me with. It's my girlfriends ex-boyfriends account. Apparently because she logged into her account on my comp they linked my IP with his since she logged in on his PC when she lived there. We've been together for almost 2 years and a few days ago is the first time she used my comp (I don't like people using it) and so I guess they took the similar IPs and since he apparently owes money and she has no money, they froze my account and are making it out that I am responsible for his debt. They will not remove the limited status until his debts are resolved. We are not friends, he's never been in my house and doesn't have any of my account information. So this is all based on my girlfriend logging in on both PCs and me actually having money.

I've been using paypal for over 6 years and am a Power Seller on ebay and so I send and receive paypal payments multiple times a day. Now my account is frozen, I can't send or receive funds, I can't use my debit card, all of my money is frozen in my account, I can't pay my bills or even buy a cup of coffee.

I never gave anyone permission to use my account, I never agreed to be anyone's guardian and I have no dependents and I am not related to my girlfriend's ex-boyfriend. I have no idea how they can get away with holding my money because an unrelated adult owes them money. This is totally outrageous.

Oh, I should mention the only way I know who's account it was linked to is because a Supervisor in the Dispute Resolutions department gave his name and e-mail address, and I guess they aren't supposed to do that.

This morning I found out now they have me linked to 2 other paypal accounts, the second one I didn't get a name on, just that it has an @yahoo.com e-mail address, the other has an aol account.

I've had my account for over 6 years and have never had another one, I have no idea why they ae doing this to me or how they can legally freeze my money because someone else owes them money. My girlfriend doesn;t even have access to my account.

I've been on the net all day looking for information and e-mail people to try to find out what I can do. Paypal doesn't really tell me anything on the phone and thier e-mail replies are useless form letters.

The first complaint I've seen all day that is similar to mine was found on this site and it's entitled:

"PayPal illegally unethically froze my funds based on unresolved prob with other PP user ripoff Internet"

The difference is that I'm not even related to her ex boyfriend.
