unfortunatly i am a telemarketer " please dont hate me " we all got to make a living. anyway, i worked there about one month & honestly did the best i could. unfortunatly i wasn't making enough sales per day. i took there advice, pointers, we listened 2 the tapes, did "roll play" where my boss, bill tennon, would be in my place and i would be the potential "prospect". to make a long story short, i went to work one day and bill told me i had to get seven sales that day or we would have to have a talk the next day. i thought no big deal. right? wrong.... i was suposto get off at 2:30 that day, but i didn't leave until 5:00. i did the best i could and only got six sales. i went to leave to go home & they told me " well you did your best but we'll give you a good refrence" i said "what do you mean? " they said we are letting you go. first time i ever got fired from a job. if i knew my job was on the line that day i would have tried even harder. maby it's for the best. i know i'll never get any satisfaction, but i atleast told my story & if you just read this, thank you !

Don’t believe the BS

As someone who worked for this company I can tell you that it’s not as terrible as these anonymous posters would have you believe. I was able to consistently get sales approximately every 15 mins by reading the script provided in the manner which I was trained. If anything is BS, it’s the fact that this site allows people to post anything they want with no proof or evidence to support their lies.
Let’s clear some things up: 1) Colin hired, trained and promoted Dave from the ground (sales rep) up (regional manager). He was the Director of Sales and by no means "new” when Dave was let go. He was also not the regional manager because (as already stated) HE WAS THE DIRECTOR! 2) Annie was never sleeping with anyone in her office so she couldn’t have been caught red-handed because IT NEVER HAPPENED.

Got rid of Dave

Yes he was cute, but a d**n good manager.
The new regional, Colin Drummond is USELESS. Everyone thinks he and Annie the new branch manager are having an affair since Annie was caught red handed cheating on her husband with an employee, yet still has a job. I just feel bad for Colin's wife. A man with his position should not be cheating on his wife with some s***k.

Same thing happened to me.

Jay,
Your story is like a carbon-copy of what happened to me. I was a sales rep. Selling such a difficult item to push on people and being expected to twist peoples' arms anyway is impossible. It's not worth minimum wage, either. They screwed up my paycheck (my only one), and I did not get it until about 3 weeks after I was "fired". I still see job ads from this company in the newspaper. It only makes you wonder...

progressive business publications rip off artist all the way around

i worked for this company for 5 years and all the comments i have read here are oh so true. i did alot of different projects for them. collections was one of them and yes we were instructed to press them to pay with c.c. or we would send them to a collections agency. and we had to call them over and over and over. to us (the employees) this was very much so harrassment.
i felt very sorry for alot of them as i know how the people conning them into taking the newletter's are very slick on the phone. also the customer serv.dept.in malvern was just awful i got complaints about them daily.i contacted malvern supervisors very regularly about this and they completely ignored me. many people were double billed and would fax me proof that they paid and i would pass that proof onto malvern and malvern would still send them to collections. also it is true that within 3 months of subscribing to the newsletters malvern would send out renewal cards.pbp also does this same thing with books under the name "center for education and employment law" if you didnt respond to the renewal card on the books they automatically send you out the newest edition and you have to pay for it or to collections you go.
i dont know how they stay in business.they moved all my projects out of town so i no longer work there and dont miss the place one little bit. they still owe me money that i was shorted on my last paycheck that was back in july i have called them 5 times about my money still no money...that was another thing with them they would short you on your paycheck and it would be so hard to get your back pay sometimes you never got it they would say it was too many weeks ago so they cant pay you for it.......best thing to do -if progressive business or center for education and employment law ever calls you immediately hang up on them or you will wish a million times that you had also they dont tell you this but they tape all the phone calls made from there.you are on tape the entire time you are on the phone with them.
