People's Lifestyle Inc. Charges $50 to sell you a book of scams! Belcamp, Maryland

When I first learned of this company, they were advertised in the local JobFinder, so I didn't seek suspicion. My boyfriend called the company that was advertised as "Now Hiring! Companies desperately need employees to assemble products at home."
Upon speaking with the representative she explained that they mail you a "directory of well-known businesses" that are in need of assembly-type employees. She listed off Ed Hardy and a couple of other well known companies that are featured in their directory. 
The cost of this book, $48.95, seemed incredibly steep, but upon researching online all of the rip-off reports were just saying that is was ludicrous this company would want this kind of money for research you can do yourself, while others stated "you have to spend money to make money."
This company claimed to have accreditation from the Better Business Bureau, and also claimed that all companies listed in their directory have been screened for BBB accreditation and that these companies are not scams. 
So, against what should have been better judgement, we shelled out the $48.95 and anxiously awaited this directory. To add to what seemed like further confirmation, she said her supervisor would contact us very shortly and she did a few minutes later. 
I just received this book today. And since have spent the last 2 hours researching every company in this directory, not only on the BBB but on rip-off report and other scam reporting websites as well. Of all of the companies, I have found ONE to be accredited by the BBB.
People's Lifestyle Inc., however, is not one of the accredited.
So not only did this company bold face lie about their accreditation, they lied about the authenticity of the companies' information they were selling to us. And as for well-known companies being listed, do I even need to say at this point that was a complete sham as well?
To any people thinking of investing and ignoring the nay-sayers, DON'T.
It has proven to be a waste of MY time and MY much needed money, God forbid it be a waste of yours as well.
Had they just said, its x amount of dollars for this directory thank you good bye, I wouldn't be as enraged as I am. But the fact that this company bold face lied, strikes a very hard chord in my book. Oh, and to mention.. the representative assures that they have a refund policy if you have a problem with any of the companies, you will be issued a refund. 
Upon receiving the book, on the third page they state, We have a very limited return policy... you must enclose a copy of the letter of rejection from the company..." It must be easy to have that as a return policy when all you list is scam companies hungry to take your money..
