Pep Boys deceptive company Pasadena Texas

On September 7th, 2002 I took my wifes car to Pep Boys
for two new tires and a front end alignment. When I
arrived there I was given a quote of $204.00 and was
told by the sales person that the wait was one and
a half hours.

At the time I was given the quote I was also told that
I was to pay when the work was completed. I asked why,
and was told that there would be no additional charges.

After leaving the car there for over an hour, I was informed that the tires quoted were the wrong ones for the car. The tires needed were no longer $53.00 each. They were now $89.00 each. The final bill was no longer $204.00. It was now $284.00.

At the time I thought that it was best to go along with the new quote after the amount of time already spent waiting. This was a mistake. The original 1 1/2 hour wait became almost three hours. The sales person also seemed put out when I asked about on of the charges on the quote. This was for the High Performance Tire Warrenty. I was told at this time that it was optional.

It seems to me that it would be a good business practice
to inform the customer of the charges and exactly what they are before just adding them to the bill.

Appologies were made by the sales person about all of the
"mistakes" made and appologies also were made by the cashier. As an employee of a large retail chain, I do know that refunds are given to the customer in situations such as this.

I really do not expect to ever see any kind of refund
from this company and really don't expect one. The
biggest mistake was made by me for going there in the
first place. It won't happen again.
