After entering a photo contest at www.photolaureates.org I was notified through email that I was selected as one of the finalists for the top prize of $6,500 for the picture I had sent in. In order to qualify for the grand prize I had to purchase a manuscript for $69 and it would include my picture and biography. I could never find a contact phone number and they would only contact through email.
I was just about to purchase this "book" when I remembered www.ripoffreport.com and just thought I would check it out. I'm soooo glad I did. There was a report filed by another individual stating this was a scam and that photolaureates had no intentions of sending out any books. The same "congratulations" information they sent me in my email was the same as the one filed on ripoffreport.com.
Please think twice before sending this company ANYTHING!

It's NOT defamation if it's the TRUTH -- Photolaureates.org scammed me!

I can validate everything in the original complaint. Photolaureates.org contacted me with similar emails. Here are a few:
"I have the pleasure to let you know that our Editorial Team has nominated you, ____, as one of the few photographers to be eligible for membership within the Exclusive and Private Laureates Society of Photography. After reviewing and debating your photography, we believe that you will be able to contribute significantly to events and activities within our Exclusive Photography Society. Our World renowned Photography Society identifies, awards and promotes new Photography Talent. ____, you have here a truly unique and exciting opportunity to develop your photography artistry, meet photographers and get known. Based on your photography submissions, our editors all agreed that you have the talent and skill set required to be successful within our Society. Do not miss out on this opportunity."
"Your photograph, ____, was selected for its asymmetric composition and light mix used throughout... and will be published in our acclaimed 'Best of 2008 Photography', Hard bound, 300 pages Special Edition anthology... ____: This special edition will feature You as a Photographer with Your Biography."
Since 2007, I have not seen my book. I paid them, and then after not receiving it, contacted them. I was assured on multiple occasions that I would receive my book where my bio and photos were published. Now, help@photolaureates.org do not respond to my emails. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which went unanswered. BBB.org has awarded PhotoLaureates.org with an "F" rating because all of their complaints go unanswered (click here to view the BBB review: http://www.la.bbb.org/Business-Report/Photolaureatesorg-100069066). I have also made my own complaint here on RipOffReport.com, and I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
If you have a similar story to mine, I recommend that you also file complaints with the BBB and the FTC. Their websites are as follows:
