My name is Marlene and I was employed By SCI - Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary in Westlake Village, California from 11/1996 - 2/2006. I hurt myself on the job and as of yet, have not received a lump sum settlement for which I have been waiting for since 2006. I did receive some payments from Workers Compensation, But in no way did it help me to pay all my bills.        I had to borrow money from family and friends  and even had to take loans on my car, life insurance and even my mobile home. I cannot make ends meat. Their is no one else whom I can ask for a loan. I owe so many people already, their is no where to turn. Little did I think that a company, to whom I was a loyal employee and gave my all for ten years, would do this to me.       The reason I took this job was to help people who needed consoling at a painful time. I was not only employed as a receptionist, I gave grief counseling, was a funeral director and sang songs for many of the services. I learned how to help others from "Mother Teresa of Calcutta", and she was my friend for ten years. I cant believe this has happened to me because I was honored by SCI in an article named, "Employee In The Spotlight".
