Bad practices, pierced ear, earring fell out 3 days later and closed immediately.  They refused to correct this.  I paid $50 for the piercing. Now my daughter has one pierced ear.  They want to bill me $25 to re pierce the ear again.  They said I should have bought a $5 warranty!  Warranty?  On ear piercing?  The ear should be pierced properly.  A earring for piercing does not just FALL OUT when done properly.  They said if I had the warranty then I'd get whole new set and whole new piercing.  Don't need all that.  I have the earring.  I just need them to pierce it correctly so the earring doesn't fall out right away.

They said as soon as I walked away I was out of luck.  "Should have bought the warranty" they said.   This $5 warranty for piercing and ear is the craziest thing I have ever heard of.  I guess they know they do crappy work and you will be back to get it fixed right the first time.

What kind of store doesn't guarantee their work for a couple days?  What kind of store charges extra to make sure the ear gets properly pierced?

This is a JOKE>  DO NOT GO THERE!

Obviously that's not right

This is a piercing earing.  It's not a back that can be checked for being loose or for needing adjustment or tightening.  The piercing backs, when pierced correctly go straight onto the post and STAY in place until you all but RIP them off when you are ready to change earrings.  This bag fell off of this one earring when it shouldn'g have, because the piercing was not done straight, and the post was some what crooked in the back.

NO matter how you slice it, a consumer has the rights to have what they paid for, and for it to last more than 1-2 days.  NO matter a store's policy, consumer's have this right, and our credit card companies agree.  I own an online store, and if my customer's item isn't working correctly or breaks, even at no fault to us, I make it right.  It's plain old good customer service.  I don't have a written policy, it's just case my case, I help my customers and make them happy, and I get tons of referrals.

This store obvioulsy knew that it may not be a fault of theirs, but it's their product and service, and it didn't work correctly.  They happily refunded the $25 for the second piercing once I was able to share what happened with the correct person.  They called me, and resolved it all.

I know what the warranty is for

I am a customer and I understand what the warranty is for.

Most companies that do ear piercing (such as Claire's and Wal-Mart and some jewelry stores) pierce the ear, and then that is their final sale.  If a child's ear piercing comes out, even within 24 hours, those companies have absolutely no obligation to help you.  An earring cannot be reused for piercing.  Believe me, I've had that experience with Claire's with my child.

Piercing Pagoda is the only company that offers this warranty, which allows the company to exchange the customer's earring instead of having to buy a new one.  For most piercing earrings the warranty is $4.99 or less, if my understanding is correct.  So Piercing Pagoda is the most lenient when it comes to ear piercing.  So I would not consider it a ripoff at all.  I would consider it a personal service.

By the way, you should be happy to be getting an ear repierced for $25 if you didn't get your warranty.  They must be letting you buy a single earring by itself.  So if I were you I would NOT complain.

Fell out?

How did the earring fall out? Did the back fall off? If so, it was your own fault for not making sure it was on tight enough. There are ways to tighten earring backs. It's not their job to go home with you to make sure you're doing it correctly.
