I thought about signing up with them, but I noticed an extremely vague and highly dangerous statement in their contract:

"As a condition of using Plentyoffish.coms services, each user agrees that any and all disputes and causes of action arising out of or connected with Plentyoffish.com, shall be resolved through arbitration, with such arbitration to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada."

I understand that this company, like many others both large and small, are following this trend - avoiding lawsuits by forcing them into rigged puppet courts. However, "out of or connected with" could be interpreted as "I can't divorce my wife, or sue my ex-girlfriend for attempted murder, because I happened to meet both of them 10 years ago on Plentyoffish.com!"

I am not a lawyer, and thus wanted more detail. I e-mailed them several times, maybe once per month over two-three months, asking for clarity on the arbitration clause, with no replies.

I then found a Web-based contact form and decided to try that instead. I could not send the message, because an automated response "Plentyoffish.com does not comment on why users are deleted" popped up.

This response had no grammatical connection to anything I wrote, so either (1) they hire lousy programmers (lawyers too?) or (2) I've been banned, no reason given, simply for asking a pre-signup question. No legitimate business would ever treat a potential client that way!

Until my legal rights are clearly stated, I will never sign up, and thus I will never know the answer to my question...
