To Whom It May Concern,

On Friday, July 27, 2012 my son went into the PNC branch in Bardstown, KY to open a checking and savings account. I was told by a bank teller for my son to arrive approximately 1 1/2 hours before they closed to open the accounts. When my son arrived at 4:10 pm (branch closes at 5:30 pm) he spoke with a teller who took down some of his basic information and looked at his driver's license. She then instructed him to sit down and wait for the lady who opens accounts.

My son waited 30 minutes only to be told by the lady who opens new accounts, Jessica Leake, that she was leaving for the day and there was no one else in the facility who could open the accounts. My son had taken off of work early on this day to open the accounts. This was the only day he was able to open the accounts because by the time he gets off work the bank is already closed. I was extremely disappointed that my son was turned away from opening the new accounts considering this bank still had over an hour before they closed and 4 other employees working. 

All of whom I was told by Executive Vice President, Dennis Shafer, could have opened the accounts. I have been a good customer myself at this bank for over 5 years so I called the bank immediately to express my concern and asked to speak to the branch manager. I was told by Sherry that there was no one else on site to open the accounts and a manager was unavailable. I asked repeatedly to speak to someone above the branch manager since she had left for the day. Sherry told me she would have someone call me right back with that information.

A few minutes later, I receive a call from Kristen Rust. Kristen also stated that no one else was available to open new accounts for the rest of the day. She instructed me to call the customer service number to make a complaint. I was unhappy with her response and asked again for upper management's contact information. Kristen refused to give me this information and then hung up on me. When I called back Kristen transferred directly without my consent to the branch manager's voice mail, Mechelle Waltz. At this point I left a message for Ms. Waltz informing her of the situation and asking for a return call. I never received a return call from Ms. Waltz. 

On Monday, July 30, I called Ms. Waltz in the afternoon. She explained to me that she had "taken care" of the situation. When I asked for further clarification she stated that she was cancelling my checking account and mailing me a check in the mail. She cancelled my account simply for attempting to make a legitimate complaint about how my son was treated. She proceeded to tell me that my account was being cancelled because I had threatened the tellers and used inappropriate language, none of which was true. I have witnesses. 

I asked Ms. Waltz repeatedly to speak to upper management for which she refused to give me contact information and stated that this situation ended with her. ln a nut shell, I was being retaliated against for simply making a complaint. When Ms. Waltz cancelled my account IMMEDIATELY I was an hour away from home in Louisville, KY with no cash on hand only my PNC debit card. I was unable to get gas for my car and left stranded over an hour away from home. My fiance who works in Louisville, KY had just arrived at our home only to have to return to Louisville to give me gas money.

I also had to spend 2 hours looking up contact information for PNC's upper management since Ms. Waltz was unwilling to give me this information. I found out two of the managers were on vacation and the President, Chuck Denny was unavailable. I have left numerous voice mail messages and emails nothing has been done. I am told that Ms. Waltz has the ability to cancel my checking account at a moment's notice without giving me any notification.

Ms. Waltz cancelled my account immediately without any concern as to where I was, if I may need cash, or may have had an emergency. I have been so upset about this situation and Ms. Waltz's lies about me that I have lost sleep and have been ill. She also refused to let me pick up the check for my closed account at the branch in town and made me wait several days with no money for food, gas, necessities, or emergencies.

The real reason Ms. Waltz cancelled my account was because I attempted to go over her head and speak to upper management regarding the horrible treatment my son received. Ms. Waltz is rude, arrogant, condescending and treats good customers poorly. I have asked upper management repeatedly for this situation to be thoroughly investigated so the truth will come out. Yet, nothing has been done.  Ms. Waltz and her tellers are liars and they need to be fired for treating good customers poorly.
