Poor Treatment of Super Elite Frequent Flyer by Air Canada I fly by Air Canada so much to the extend I am soon reaching a Million miles club of Aeroplan/Air Canada. However I have faced with delayed baggage ,in spite of the fact Air Canada stick priority tags, and delivered very late ,sometime a day later, and how poorly value a loyal passenger to the extend I do not want to fly any more with Air Canada. I fly by Air Canada so much to the extend I am soon reaching a Million miles club of Aeroplan/Air Canada. However I have faced with delayed baggage (in spite of the fact Air Canada stick priority tags) and delivered very late (sometime a day later) and how poorly value a loyal passenger to the extend I do not want to fly any more with Air Canada.

The recent real experience shocked me, Air Canada customer service people and all my colleagues & friends which I thought of writing to you. I booked a flight from Calgary to Sao Paolo Brazil by business class in July and did some changes to fly on August 26th 2018 and return on August 31st 2018. I had spoken to Super Elite Air Canada agents couple of times while I did some changes. Interestingly no one indicated that Canadian passport holder requires a visa to enter Brazil. Still I take this as my error for not checking at my end. At Calgary airport, at the priority passengers counter of Air Canada the agent provided me a boarding pass and checked my baggage without checking on my Brazil visa. The flight route was Calgary to Toronto and then Toronto to Sao Paolo Brazil. While boarding my flight from Toronto to Sao Paolo, the Air Canada agent found that I didn’t have a Brazil visa (until then I wasn’t aware too) and asked me how come Air Canada agent in Calgary checked you in. Also, she advised me that it is the complete mistake of the Air Canada Agent.

Any way I didn’t make that flight. Then I was directed to the customer service. The agents at the Air Canada customer service counter were surprised as well and advised me that it is the mistake of the Air Canada agent in Calgary. I decided to return to Calgary on August 27th early morning flight and the customer service agent in Toronto confirmed me that my baggage has been removed from the flight to Sao Paolo flight and organized to fly with me on the flight to Calgary on August 27th morning. I reached Calgary and found my baggage didn’t travel with me. More interesting they couldn’t locate my baggage until next day morning, that is August 28th. I contacted Air Canada customer service via Air Canada Calgary concierge on refund of my flight charges deducting the cancellation fee of $200 (that is the published amount on this ticket).

After few days I get a response from Air Canada customer services indicating that it is completely passenger mistake. If the agent in Calgary didn’t make the mistake of issuing the boarding pass and checked-in my baggage, I would have gone with cancellation fee of $200 and got the refund remaining amount. These tickets are not cheap. After few strong emails, Air Canada refunded partially but not what is supposed to. It is a pathetic situation how Air Canada treats a loyal passenger. The important points are: I am passenger who flies over 100K miles in the last so many years (in fact I might have flown over 130K miles in 2018 and mostly business class or premium economy)……..this is how Air Canada value their ‘loyal and Super Elite frequent flyer customer”; It is sad and pathetic to see the commitment and trust of Air Canada; More sadly if they are performing to a Super Elite passenger like me then it is unimaginable how badly they treat other passengers. It tells clearly how Air Canada doesn't have any loyalty towards a loyal passenger...….whatever they say is all BS!
