I was rear-ended by a dump truck while sitting at a red light. The accident caused 9K of damage to my car. The wrecker driver recommended Post Oak Collision Center which he said was the storage lot that he would be towing my car to. I later found out that he was receiving a fee of about $500 from the repair facility for the referral. The three week time frame quoted by the body shop turned into seven weeks very quickly.

I got my car and found that some of the repairs were not done or not done correctly as per the inspector for the insurance company. There was a very strong odor in the car that made my eyes and sinuses burn and it gave me a headache. I had to go to the doctor and was told that I had been exposed to some very strong chemicals and was given medication. Needless to say, the car went back to the shop for another three weeks.

I had a large amount of over spray of paint on the windows, they had sweeped all of the shattered glass underneath the floor mats, there was water in the trunk, the body parts didn't fit correctly, a large amount of the painted surfaces(one third of the car)hadn't been buffed correctly, there were holes in the upholstery that weren't there before the accident, the interior had grease smears and drips on it as well as on the chrome. Long story short, the car should have never been given to me in this condition.

Anytime your car is in an accident of this magnitude, it will really never be the same. However, when the body shop causes this many problems, it just rubs it right in your face. The accident was a terrible experience which thankfully, I wasn't injured. But, dealing with this pack of liars, cheats and just plain dishonest and deceptive organization, was the worst part of the accident.

As a consumer and former business owner, I've long been a maven of giving my business to independent companies rather than major chains or large dealerships. After this experience, I will never ever use an independent shop again and I implore you to do so as well. But, if you do decide to use an independent shop, please do not use this one! I promise you that you will be sorry that you did!

They tried to take the air out of my tires but I'm still kickin' a*s

AUTHOR: Ken - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 06, 2009

The day that I finally got my car back, it died on me when I stopped to check my mail box. The car was dead as a door nail. I had to have it towed to the dealership. The next day, I got a call from the dealership, asking me if I'd recently had body work performed on the car. I explained what had happened and they told me that there were connections that hadn't been properly attached and the dealership attached them for me.

They added that there were some items which hadn't been properly repaired. They then sited that the electronic valve stem covers that convey the tire pressure to the car's computer that alerts me when tire pressure drops below specs, had been removed and replaced with plain valve stem covers which don't relay the information, rendering the feature useless. They told me that they could replace them as they were in stock. Each one cost $108.00. That's a total of $432.00 + tax.
I opted to moniter it myself.

In addition, they told me that the body shop hadn't protected the chrome exhaust tips during the welding process which caused flecks of matter to pepper the pipes and had started to rust the chrome. These chrome tips are not replacable as they are an integral part of the exhaust system and I'd have to replace the mufflers as well. These mufflers are designed to last the life of the car. They will continue to rust as time goes by.

Why does this hell have to continue? What did I do to deserve this? All I was doing was sitting at a red light, and it's manifested into a consumer's personal hell!
