I was called by Precision Auto Protection at home soon after my Toyota Tundra's extended warranty ran out.  They gave me the VIN number of my truck and everything so I figured that it was an official company associated with Toyota Motor Company.  I had just over 100K and they gave me the full on scare tactics of how expensive everything was to fix on my truck now that it was out of warranty.  Got the high pressure sales pitch and was told they needed a yes right now or the package was not available after she (Paula) hung up.  At the time my wife was at the hospital with my mother in law.  She had fallen in the nursing home and was injured so she was rushed to the hospital.  I told her that and that I could not discuss it with her at the time and would need to for financial reasons.  She said since my truck had such high miles that it was only available right now.  When I asked if they could just send me information on the plan they said they could not without a downpayment. She said that she could take the first down payment of $294.50 now to hold the policy and I could cancel within 30 days for a full refund, I would get the package in the mail and I could talk it over with my wife and if it was not financially possible call her and she would refund my deposit immediatly.  Here is where I am glad I used a credit card instead of a debit card!!

A day later I spoke to my wife and she thought the coverage was too expensive for our budget so I called Precision Auto Protection immediatly.  I told them I wanted to cancel the policy and get my refund.  I could not speak to Pamela because she was "Busy" with other customers. Again I get the full court press and high pressure sales pitch on why I shouldn't cancel the policy.  After sticking to my guns I finally got them to acknowledge that I was canceling the policy!!!  They said it could not do this over the phone and that I needed to send a Letter of Cancelation.  I wrote the letter and sent it registered return receipt by the post office and they received it within two weeks of our original conversation!  I thought that now I would Immediatly receive my refund.  Yea, right!!!

I called the company again a month after I snet the letter because I still didn't receive the refund. They said it was in process and the refund department was working on it.  They did acknowledge that they did receive my letter of cancelation.  The man on the phone said they would bring this up to the refund department and would call me with an update.  Never got a call.  I called every week over the next month and got the same canned answers.  Of course I got the "This call is being recorded for quality assurance" from every agent that I spoke with and they all (5) told me they were taking my file right to the refund department and would call me with an update.  Yea, right!!!! Never heard a word from any of them!!!

After almost three months from my original contact with Precision Auto Protection I filed a dispute with Capital One and within two days the money was back in my account.  I told the last person that I was going to file a dispute with my credit card company (which I am sure they had on the recording they made for quality assurance) so I did and the response was much faster!!  Then I found that another person had about the same experince so I figured to add my experience.  This experience has taught me that if the deal has to be done immediatly or you loose the opportunity, I think they are referring the sale more than you!!!  Beware of Precision Auto Protection!!!!
