I went to Precision Tune here in Garner, NC. Because my Ford Ranger was running at a high idle. Ford recommends a tune up at 100K miles and I have 95K miles.

I first called and asked for a price quote to run full diagnostics and a complete tune up (Thursday). I was told over the phone that the cost would be about $160.00... I thought that was reasonable So I brought my truck in for service the next morning (Friday morning).

After I called back later in the day I was told that I needed an additional part (an Idle air control valve)at $122.50 (parts & labor) and that is what was causing my high idle problem. I authorized the work.

I called back later and was told that my truck was ready. So I went to pick it up. Paid the bill of $455.50... Got in my truck expecting it to run normally. My truck ran exactly like it did when I brought it in... High Idle and all...

I returned to speak to the manager and he told me to bring it back in on Monday morning...

I brought my truck back in on Monday morning and gave them my key. I sat in the waiting area for 1 hour and my truck never moved from the space I parked it in. I left and returned at lunch to drop off my truck again. After I gave them the key again the mechanic came over to me and said that he has found a white paper on the problem and this should fix it. The manager was willing to order the part overnight and the mechanic could install it and there wouldn't be any additional charge. Just bring it back Tuesday morning.

So I brought my truck back on Tuesday morning to drop it off. Well the manager told me that his mechanic wasn't going to be in and the part wasn't in yet either so just come back tomorrow.

So, I went back on Wednesday morning and dropped off the key. I called them late morning and spoke to the mechanic and he said my truck was ready. I went to pick it up. My truck ran exactly like it did when I dropped it off the first time. He said aw don't worry about it, drive it for a couple of days and let the computer reset itself If it still runs at high idle bring it back on Friday

I was mad When I got back to my office, I called the customer service number listed on their web site and filed a complaint. I was told that the Operations Manager would contact me within 24hours. It has been over 24 hours and I still have not heard a thing.

My bill should have been around $324.00 with the additional work and I ended up paying $455.50 in looking at the detail of my bill I noticed they charged me $97.50 labor to install plug wires You do the math??? I will keep you posted Shame on them
