Title 2, Motor Vehicle Legal Services:

IN QUESTION::

Minor Legal Expenses

Your Provider Lawyer will represent you or your covered family members against moving traffic violations at no additional cost to you. Now you can have help with traffic tickets and not have to worry about the cost of representation.

These services are limited to two and one-half (2-1/2) hours of lawyer time per claim and do not include the filing of a lawsuit and exclude personal injury and property claims that exceed $2,000

ISSUE: TRAFFIC TICKET, PROVIDER FIRM DENIED ASSISTANCE. MOVING VIOLATION, NON-CRIMINAL, (SPEEDING). SINCE IT WAS OUT OF AN AREA THAT PREPAID LEGAL DOESNT WORK WITH, I WAS DENIED SERVICE... NOT AS ADVERTISED AT BRIEFINGS --BEWARE--

Hmm . . .

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 11, 2007

If you have auto insurance, as is required by every state, then your insurance company is by most (or all) state's laws obligated to defend you against personal injury and property damage claims.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong about this. But given the above information, isn't PPL charging people for a service that their insurance company should already be providing for them? Beyond that, if the claim exceeds $2000, and the consumer uses the PPL attorney at a 25% discounted rate, isn't he still shelling out an awful lot of money for something he can get for free from his insurance company?

All moving traffic violations are taken care of unless you are out of the USA. Where was your ticket?

The 2.5 hours refers to one, help with reinstating or maintaining a drivers license, and two, help with personal injury and property damage under $2,000. Everything else will fall under the preffered member discount of 25%. So, for $26 a month, you get 2.5 free hours for small claims, and 25% off for anything else. 25% off of $10,000 is $2,500 which still sounds like a good deal to me. :-)

PPL is only as good as the law firms it works with

AUTHOR: Carl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 07, 2007

The last time I checked, there was only one provider law firm serving the entire state of California for PPL users. If they don't have an office near you or if you don't like the attorney signed to your matter, you are out of luck. In most cases, you can find a local attorney that can meet or beat PPL prices for legal services.

That was a nice try Maryann

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

Unfortunately, the "fine print" is no more meaningless than the BOLD TYPE.

PPL's response to EVERYTHING was "nope, not covered". Drugs and/or alcohol was never an issue. PPL just chose to NOT honor their end of the agreement.

Good try though...and I am glad you left them to find a more ethical company to do business with.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Read the Fine Print

AUTHOR: Mary Ann - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 04, 2007

As an ex-employee at the call centers where members called to complain, all I can say to members and prospective members, is to READ THE FINE PRINT, not only with PrePaid Legal but with any contract. PrePaid Legal MAY be helpful to some, but to the masses, I believe the yellow pages are just as helpful. Not only is the information you gave correct, it isn't even all of it: there can also be NO Drugs or Alcohol even alleged to be involved with traffic sitaations. I am really sorry you got duped, and believe me, I took calls 5 days a week from other disgruntled members just like you. Another fine print of the contract is no coverage (other than a 25% discount)for situations such as divorce, custody, or child support which so many of the customers signed up believing was available. Please read the FINE PRINT before taking this product. And to the marketers of PrePaid Legal, I feel it is your duty to explain the fine print to prospective customers - and I agree, some of you do this, but from the calls I took every day, it is obvious more of you do not.

Welcome to the club

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 12, 2006

PPL does nothing for anybody, other than make a bunch of Attorneys rich.

You'll get blasted by people (I use that term loosely) who sell that Volcano Insurance, and claim it is wonderful.

The fact is, those who sell it love it; those who buy it hate it.
