Prestige Towing Running a scam Largo Florida

On 2/5/09 at 10:40 a.m. I placed a call to AAA because my transmission pan was seized to the transmission. At approximately 10:50 a.m. the tow truck driver from Prestige towing on 66th street showed up with a flatbed. Instead of placing the my car on the flatbed, he towed the car with an attachment from the back.

I wanted the car towed to Superior Auto Center down the road. There wasn't enough room for the driver to make a u-turn so he decided to pull into the Winn Dixie parking lot to turn around. Upon entering the parking lot, the car came ajar and caused damage to driver's side front bumper ($868 worth). Once we pulled up to the auto center, the tow truck driver took pictures of the vehicle's damage.

I know I should have reported it then but I thought he was going down the road to get this taken care of at his office. The driver came back and gave me money for the damages and said they set up an appointment at Greenway Chrysler to get the bumper fixed.

The amount he gave was nowhere near enough and now the company and the driver are claiming none of this happened. They are claiming the damage was caused before the tow even though my fiance and mother-in-law saw the car undamaged 20 minutes before I called AAA. I know it was stupid of me to trust these people but I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

This towing works with AAA in many areas in Florida. Make sure to take a picture of your vehicle, preferably with a time stamp, before these people touch your car. The past few days have been hell because they just stall and never return calls. I will be filing a police report and contact AAA about this situation.
