The law firm of Preston and Scott LLC, in Salt Lake City, Utah, has been graced with the label of being a "Super Lawyer" firm. Well, isn't that super? What, exactly, does that mean? Nada. Zip. Zilch. Nothing. Getting the label of "Super Lawyer" is about as easy as getting friends on Facebook. There's really nothing beyond that. It's lawyers "friending" other lawyers, if you will, joining the club and saying great and wonderful things about each other so they can get ranked as "Super Lawyers." It's the profession glad-handing themselves to boost their public profiles. Other lawyers vote for you if you vote for them. Shocking, isn't it, that lawyers would stoop to something like that? It's all really just an incestuous thing.
That might fool some people, but not me. Something else that doesn't fool me? How does shared Social Security numbers grab you? I find it extremely interesting that these two legal eagles have other names associated with what purportedly are their social security numbers -- or theirs associated with others. Hard to tell for sure. That little nugget alone should cause you to steer a wide course around these two "Super Lawyers." Think about the implications of that. Think about if someone else, or five or six someone else's, were walking around with your Social Security number. Or you with theirs. Makes for some intriguing possibilities, don't you think? Bottom line is no good will come from either of those scenarios. Do you really want to be involved with that, anyway?

- So I was looking for some legal help in Salt Lake City, trying to do some research on a couple of attorneys that I had heard about. I decided to search for them on Google. I searched for "Preston and Scott Salt Lake City." I'm glad I did. I couldn't find anything about them related to their business. (I guess they don't have a website? Hmmmm.) I only found what were essentially listings in the top couple of result returns. But then I found a couple links very high in the results, like the #3 and #4 results, and they were to consumer complaint forums -- this one, Ripoff Report, and another on (((REDACTED))). Wow! Eye-opening. There are some folks out there who do not like the work these guys do. Glad I searched and read up on them. Not gonna go there, that's for sure! So I just thought I'd throw my 2 cents into the mix here. Do your homework people. It's easy these days. It can definitely steer you in the right direction, or at least away from people you don't want to do business with.

Super Lawyers, indeed! NOT! What in the world are these guys thinking? How would there be multiple names for Social Security numbers? What kind of reputable citizen, forget reputable law firm, be doing with having access to multiple Social Security numbers? Something definitely smelling fishy there. Steering far clear of these guys! Thanks for the heads up.
