I was contacted by a Primerica recruiter recently who told me that he was interviewing for positions in the Grand Rapids area for individuals to fill "management" positions. During the phone conversation, the recruiter stated that my name had been submitted by a recruiting agency. After discussing a brief background of Primerica and Citigroup, I agreed to an initial interview.
The interview was typical for initial interviews, except that very little was said about the actual position for which I was being interviewed. The interviewer asked standard questions (what do you like most/least about your current job, what is your greatest asset, etc.) and provided additional information about Citigroup's successes. I was told Primerica was opening new offices in Grand Rapids and that they were looking for individuals to fill management positions. At the end of the interview, I was asked to return the following week for a second interview which would be in a group forum with other candidates applying for the position. I expressed my concern that I still did not understand what positions Primerica was seeking to fill.
I left thinking the interview went well, but not comfortable with how vague the interviewer was about the actual "management" position. My suspicions led me to search the internet for more information about Primerica, which led me to this web site.
I now have no plans to attend the second "interview." Clearly, I was being seriously misled. Primerica and Citigroup may be fine companies (just read their literature), but their recruiting tactics are blatently deceptive and dishonest.
