I am like so many others (and wish that I had easy internet access at the time to do the proper research before being ripped off) in that I received an unsolicited email from Robert Allen informing me that I had been selected to be a part of a group of people that he would help teach how to do well in real estate investing. There was a clocking counting backward on this email selling some ebooks and I regretfully purchased them. It didn't take long to get a call from Private Mentoring Group, who strongly asserted their connection to Robert Allen. The process started with a screener who passes on your information to a director for his review. The director calls and tells you that he is giong to judge your desire and determination, and how much you are willing to put on a credit card, which is their way of telling you it is done by not using your own money. I was stupid and admitted how much I could put on credit cards, over $9000, and that is what the program ended up being.

They made several promises of the plethera of mortgatge and alternative lending referalls they would make (they made one and it was a person that worked at home and could never help), a website with referals (that were all out of date), a website to help with the business (that never worked, even after calling tech support multiple times), and coaching from a very successfull mentor. The mentor did this full time, so I question his success, but all he did were 45 minute sessions where he called and read from a book that they had sent with some other crappy materials.

They also refer you to other companies like a tax club and a Nevada company that helps set up corporations. They cost even more money.

I had several complaints (in parenthesis above) and spoke to several people, including the person who signed me up, the guy that worked with mortgage referals, and the "mentor" about the problems I was having and that they were not meeting their commitments. Each time, I was basically told that they couldn't do any more for me. I finished the "mentoring" sessions, but they had broken all other commitments and I worked to pay off the credit card debt that I had accrued, without further contact to them because they never were able to help when I did contact them. As a last resort, I asked for my money back.

This is the best part. I recently got a mailing from them asking me to sign up for more sessions which would cost even more money. Talk about opening a deep wound unnecessarily. They are a RIP-OFF. Do not fall for it.
