68 emails and 2 telephone calls to transfer a domain name, a transfer recommended by Prostores.
The name is still not transferred. I've been invoiced 9 times for the same $9.95 charge.
Why? Prostores customer service representatives speak English with difficulty. They do not read emails; they do not listen during phone conversations. There is no other way to interact with Prostores. My internet business is in the hands of an hourly in a far off country.
A far cry from the friendly, helpful posture Prostores adopts in promotional and advertising messages.
In 2008, customer service at Prostores was responsive and reliable. Today, in 2010, it is not.
There are hundreds of services on the web to facilitate building a website. I'm learning that it is a big mistake to build an internet business based on a hosting supplier who sees its customer problems as "cases" to be swept out of an inbox as quickly as possible.
Creating a website is the easy part. It's when you have a problem that you find out whether you've selected a webhoster with integrity and reliability. Select Prostores today and you may, like me, regret it tomorrow.

There's hope for Prostores

It took another dozen emails and a couple more phone calls but I finally got the ear of a helpful Prostores employee who helped connect me with customer service and at last the domain was transferred. No one should have to walk thru hot coals to receive services they've been promised and paid for, and I cannot recommend Prostores for anyone who doesn't have the persistence of a terrier; however, it should also be said that the Prostores shopping cart works very well and the customization capacity is superior to what I found elsewhere. The blame here is with whoever Prostores contracted to handle customer service. Their system is inadequate to screen cases and transfer more complicated problems on to more qualified personnel, or to Prostores staff when necessary. Hope Prostores recognizes this and takes appropriate action.
