Provident Moving Disgusted! Fair Lawn New Jersey

I was originally quoted $308; at the time the estimate was given to me, I asked if there were any additional charges and was told any packing material needed would be additional.  Be prepared to pay $4 per roll of tape and $5 per blanket - the movers will use 30 rolls of tape and 30 blankets. To move a small one bedroom apt (sofa, tv stand, headboard, bed frame, mattress, dresser).  They also charge $75 to crate a TV.  

The movers were very unprofessional - two were sent - not dressed in uniform, one did not speak English which would be fine if I spoke his language but not the case.  I ended up having them leave most of my stuff because I did not want to pay for 30 more blankets and 30 more rolls of tape.  And did not want to pay $75 per TV.

Also, be careful, the mover tried to charge me for 5 hours - when he asked to collect payment after only 3 hours of moving I asked why he charged me for 5 (instead of the 4 hour min) and he had no explanation.  He also said he was supposed to charge me for moving to a 2nd floor, however, this information was given when my estimate was given and the rep did not say anything about an add'l charge nor was it listed in my emailed estimate.

Also, when the two movers sent could not get my sofa into the doorway of my new apt and I suggested they remove the door, they told me they do not remove doors.  What kind of movers do not remove doors from hinges in order to get furniture in?  I'm sorry, did I not hire you and am I not paying you to move my furniture?

While the emailed estimate did noted "packing materials additional charge" the prices were not listed - nor was there a disclaimer that stated they would not move anything if it wasn't covered in a blanket. Just overall bad experience - unprofessional, bad attitude, just morally wrong.  Just avoid this place.
