This company is notorious for raising and lowering credit limits, usually sending you the letter several days after the limit has already been decreased.

I have had two providian/WAMU cards for several years. Both have not been canceled but I am in debt for quite some time with them because I am continually getting charged over limit fees due to the decrease of my credit limit.

The last straw was in October of last year, I had to go out of town for several weeks due to my mother being very ill. When I left my WAMU card had a 4000.00 balance. I used this card for air fare for myself and later for my family to attend a funeral.

I recieved no calls or anything from the company. However five days after returning home I recieved a letter in the mail saying my limit had been decreased to 400.00 dollars. Of course I had already charged 1400.00 on the card.

So now I am being charged 39.00 every month for overlimit fees. The fact that they decreased my limit AFTER I had already charged on it didn't seem to phase them.

I called several times trying to find out why they decreased it after the charges were made and why they felt the need to charge me montly over limit fees. Basically all I got was well pay off the 800.00 and we will not charge over limit fees.

The company has horrible customer service, they are mean and rude and choose not to talk to you but to basically tell you to pay your bill ect. When I said I was canceling both cards then they had the gall to as why. I told them their customer service sucked and that I could get a card with a much better company, one that wouldn't decrease my limit everytime I went charged on it. They didn't seem to care, they canceled my card and said you do realize you still need to pay even though the card is canceled, now when can we expect the balance due?
