I went to this dealership looking to purchase a used car in cash.  The one that I test drove appeared clean but I was suspicious that something was covered up.  On the test drive,  I took it a nearby Jiffy Lube and said  I needed an oil change.  It did not take long (a minute) for them to  say that "we have a problem," i.e. there was transmission fluid in the coolant and that the transmission fluid was a pink foamy "strawberry milkshake" or "pepto bismol" substance instead of red like it was supposed to be and that there was a big problem.

They said that I needed to get that checked out.  I told them I was just test driving it along the way and they said whoever buys this would have at least a $4500 repair bill for a new transmission when this one would start slipping (when, they were not sure) They also said that Jiffy Lube could not even touch a vehicle like this in that condition for liability reasons even for a mere oil change (?) (i.e. that something they did there could cause this condition to occur). I was surprised because Jose from the dealer kept saying "I will be honest with you . . ."  That should have been my first clue.  My second clue was that one the way back on the test drive the "O/D off" light started blinking and it would not shift out of first gear until you let off the gas a little bit.

You know there are plenty of people who want to purchase a vehicle and pay cash because $60,000 for a new one for 6 or 7 years is ridiculous not to mention all of the forced insurance, absorbadent registration, etc., not to mention all you are driving around is loans. I have a message for this dealer and dealers like this: when you try to cover something up like this, you never know when it will resurface, and a flashing "O/D off" light was all I needed to be honest and tell me even if you won't.   All they kept saying when negotiating the price is how they would sell this to someone else, so I said "let me show you this" and I showed them the transmission fluid in the coolant tank and the pink transmission fluid.

The look on their faces was priceless when they found out that I knew what they covered up.  I just left without buying, and also, I did not give them my phone number so I never heard from them again (what a surprise).  The vehicle is still listed for sale on their website after 6 months.  Do not buy anything from Quality 1st Auto Sales in Temecula it will probably break down on the way home (or on the test drive).
