In May 2008 I purchased a fan motor assembly for my 2002 Ford Focus. At the time of the order I provided my vehicle VIN# for verification of the part. I was told that the part would cost $176. This was less than at the automotive store who charged $258. I was told that the part was used but in good working condition. I stipulated that in order for the part to be acceptable for my needs it would have to be in good working condition AND have all of the mounting brackets properly affixed. I was assured that the part would be as I requested.

A few days later, I recieved the part and took it to my certified mechanic for installation. When he removed the part from the shipping box, he noted in front of me that the motor was "wabbley" which is a sign that it is going to fail very soon. Secondly, the lower left bracket was broken off of the part. The broken piece was not in the box either. Finally, the wiring plugs on the part did not fit the ones on my automobile. That meant that this part was THE WRONG ONE!

When I called Qualityautoparts.com the sent me an RMA and asked me to ship it back to them with a tracking #. I did as they asked, followed all of the rules and waited for my refund. About 3 days later, I recieved a refund back into my bank account for only $107.00. I was expecting $191.75. This was the cost of my part plus $14.75 I had to pay to ship the part back to them.

When I inquired about the lesser amount being refunded I was told the following: "We tested the part and it worked, therefore, you were only refunded $107.00. This is the amount remaining after shipping charges to send it to you AND a 25% restocking fee being deducted per our refund policy."

To say the least I was irrate that they stole $69 from me. First they sent me a part that had a broken mounting bracket. The fan motor was sublevel at best according to my mechanic. Finally, it wasn't even the part that fit my automobile. I sent them email after email after email to no avail. I also called them several times and got an answering machined. Now when I contact them by email, they just close the ticket on my request without a reply.

They claim that they offer great customer service and a 30 day money back guarantee. When I ordered, the salesman said they were a member of the Better Business Bureau. Also, that I could not get a better part cheaper than what he was offering me.

For me personally, this is no longer about the money. It is the principle of the situation. Companies like this think they can "run over" the consumer and get away with it. I promised them I would make their lives a "living hell" if they didn't satisfy the situation. Thus far they have not done so. I am filing a report the BBB against them as well as posting on RIPOFFREPORT.com for all to see. I am also disputing the charge on my credit card.

My advice to anyone thinking of buying from this company would be "DONT DO IT!" You will cause yourself more trouble than the money you will save buying a crappy part from a crappy company.

After several days of no response from qualityautoparts.com, I believe they have decided not to deal with the situation. i.e. their lack of reponse IS their response. For me, it looks like I am just out the $69 they owe me. Although I am still going to try the credit card dispute route. Anyone reading this, I beg you dont buy anything from this company. Help drive them out of business by taking your businesss elsewhere.

I just went to the qualityautoparts.com website and noticed that thier BBB (Better Business Bureau) membership has been revoked. I do not know exactly when this action was taken. The BBB says that the reasons for revokation range from non payment of annual dues to failure to resolve issues with customers. However, I was told by their sales rep that their business was a member. I wonder if that is just something they willl tell anyone to make a sale?
