WARNING!  This company is based in Titusville but has locations through out Florida. The Port Saint Lucie branch came to my home to repair a cable that had come off it's track.

Upon doing so, the service guy told me that I also needed a new coupler, which they charged $49.00 for.  I questioned the price for such a small piece of plastic and his response was that's what the boss charges.  I later found the same part on eBay with free shipping for under $4.50!

Less than a month later the same symptoms reappeared and I decided to climb up on a ladder and check it out.   The issue was the Genie screw drive was not turning but the motor was running. After reading up on the web for a reason, it seems all points led to the coupler being stripped.

I took a look at the owners manual and low and behold, my model opener doesn't even use a coupler! I then called Genie directly and spoke with a tech and he varified that indeed my unit did NOT use a coupler.  Pissed?  You betcha!

I immediatly called the company and and told them my findings and they insisted on having a supervisor come and take a look at it.  When he arrived, even tried to tell me that it had a coupler!

I asked him to show me where it's at, and he then ACTED intelligent and said wait, you're right, this one doesn't have a coupler.  I of course then asked why they charged me for one and his reply was...I don't know.

Funny, when I called the company to file a complaint they were quick to tell me that they sell the part in question for $29.95, still high for a readily available $5.00 part, but I said fine.

When I asked why they sold me one was what led to the supervisors visit. What's worse, is when I asked said supervisor what would possess his employee to do such a thing his reply was:  Money, the installer gets a commission on parts!

His reply then was we'll definately look into this and the repairman will probably loose his job. PROBABLY???? I doubt very seriously that he's going to lose his job as he's making the company money hand over fist!

How many unsuspecting men and woman actually climb up on a ladder to inspect what was done on any appliance, much less a garage door opener?  I know for a fact they were not expecting anything to happen and that I would just be happy that it works, pay the bill and get on with my life.

And that's exactly what I was doing until the issue arose again so soon and I did the research myself!

They stated on the phone that they would come out and check it, but that if anything was wrong OTHER than the work they had done then I would be charged again for the trip plus whatever parts were needed. Yes, they would have raked me over the coals had I not done my due diligence!

This type of crap happens day in and day out in all aspects of service and repair so my advice to all is to do your homework as best you can and get a second opinion if you have any reservations whatsoever, no matter the item in need of repair. As for Quality Garage Door Serivices?  I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and any other outlet available.

Port St Lucie complaint

This was a very unfortunate situation. After finding out what happened, the technician WAS immediately terminated. This isn't the way we want to be represented. And we have strived to make ALL our customers happy for the last 17 years. 

This particular customer had an issue with his opener stripping. This is caused from overwhelming weight of the door.  The door needed to be resprung, however the customer refused spring replacement. So, of course the stripping continued. A garage door simply won't operate without necessary maintenance. When authorized to fix a door, Quality Garage Door Services never gets complaints.

It seems that most issues arise when customers expect a door to continue as it has for the last 15 years, without paying for necessary maintenance. This simply won't work!! This particular invoice was $133.95. That seems fair for a door that was crooked when we got there, and working when we left. 

As far as our pricing, all of our parts prices include us bringing it to your house and installing it. So, I really don't see how the two can be compared. 

In short, one customer complaint in 17 years seems outstanding to me, and I will continue to strive to make all my customers garage doors as safe and reliable as possible. This is how we have stayed in business for all these years, by having satisfied customers. 

Despite this customers opinion, Quality Garage Door Services will continue to fix garage doors better than the industry standard. Providing our customers with the best value for their money.To top it off, we are cheaper than the other two leaders of the industry.
