I was awakened this am by a caller telling me I was a preferred customer of a company from whom I had made a recent purchase and Quality Resources was going to send me a $40 gasoline voucher in the mail in a couple of weeks (I should look for it and not throw it out thinking it was junk mail). I would also receive an offer to enroll in a program that would give me discounts from major retailers like Home Depot. The first month was only a dollar, subsequent payments would be billed automatically to my credit card ending in (XXXX).

I wanted to know how they got my credit card, and the caller said that for privacy reasons he had only the last 4 digits. Then he said they would need to get my mailing address. I declined the offer and hung up. It later occurred to me that although the caller might only have the last four digits of my card, the company might have the whole thing. I tried calling them back using the number I got off caller ID and got only a recording.

A few hours later, another telemarketer called from the same outfit. I asked to speak with his supervisor. I demanded to know where they had gotten my credit card number, and he insisted that they had only the last 4 digits. He said he did not know who provided it, and told me the last 4 digits were on all receipts for purchases. Of course I know that, the question is what they are doing with it and my phone number. I asked him for the name of a corporate manager, their address and phone number. He gave me only the info you can find on the net. No names other than his, which he said was Chad Routenberg. When I told him the phone number reached only a recording, he told me it was the only one he had. He offered to put me on their do not call list.

I cancelled the card in the interim between the two calls and have since registered a complaint with the Florida Attorney General's Office which has an open case on them.

I used to work for Quality Rsources, as well as a few other telemarketing companies. They were not lying to you when they told you that they only have the last 4 digits. And we DONT know where the numbers come from. They pop up on our computers, and if you say yes to the deal, you get sent to verification and your "trial" offer is sent to yet ANOTHER company, whom DO have your FULL credit card number. They have lots of companies that sell customer information, so yes, we do not know who you made a purchase with. The screen says your name, the last 4 digits of your v/mc, the city you live in, and your phone number. Thats all the info we have when we call you. I personally know that this company is a scam. I worked there for 4 years. I made A LOT of money, too. But I finally got tired of scamming people. This company DOES need to be shut down. Its costing A LOT of people A LOT of money. I just wanted to reassure you that when we call you, we do NOT have your full card number. NO one in the company does. Hope this helps!!
