I bought an P220 Onan engine off cragslist. I paid sum of $1190.00 for it $90.00 of it was for fright charges to my address.

I was told this engine was ran for 3 hours on his work bench and was checked out ok with no problems. I installed the engine and an filled it with the oil that he recomended. After 3 to 4 hours of changing over my old starter from my onan engine and switching things that other engine did'nt have to get it to run. Had to use my old air cleaner as the one I bought was damaged.

After adding oil we tried starting the engine using a primer gun spray bottle of gas. Got it started after 2 to 3 minutes i seen a oli lead in front of engine oil pan. Wasn't sre where it was coming from at first but later I thouht it was coming from oil pan gasket area. Also had few more issues on this engine.

I called Mr johnson about the Oil Pan leak I found and he thought maybe when I removed the oil plug from where the oil sender unit screws in might had started leaking. Told him I'd check it out. I found the sending unit was leaking!

I still thought it was in the oil pan and block gasket! We also talked about governor surging and thought there was dirt that may have gotting into a jet that might cause this. Found nothing in carburetor.

As far as air cleaner damaged he said he had no problems with his people he has to freight it before? I know I didn't bend it! Still remains a mistory.

I emailed him but got no answers from him at all so later I phoned him again but I got a recording to leave message so I told him to call me back.

Not hearing from him I disided to remove the engine from the lawn tractor to see what was the leak problem. We removed the Oil Pan and I could see why it was leaking oil as plan as day even a 2 year old could see that.

Who ever remover the oil pan before did clean the gasket material off the block flanges "but did'nt clean the Oil Pan what so ever as it had small chunks of old gasket stuck to it!

There was no way he could of ran this engine on his bench and not have any oil leaks!! So now I'm thinking did I buy a night mare or what.

I let him know what I fou nd and he emailed me back and not making to much sense? He said you switched oil pans and stipped out one of the bolt holes.  He said someone if "someone" did'nt clean the old gasket off the oil pan & stipped the stud bolt holes it was done at my end.I took pictures of this oil pan an block and sent it to him but he aparently must think he does no wrong. I told him I was telling him the truth .

He not being honest with me as he said I tryed to help you best that I could And said "I have nomore time for you to into this. Worst case scenario buy a $10.00 dollar gasket....end of story.-Randy

I did go and bought a gasket and a few other things like pan gasket dipstick, O'ring for dipstick as it was bad also!

Right now I'm waiting for my parts to put the engine back together.  After this ordeal I decided to let the public know what happen to me and how I fell about it.

At least let them know and think a little before i'd buy anything from this guy and astablisment!  Too me $1100.00 dollars is a lot of money to me when I'm not working no working.

So BEWARE of Randy's Recycled Parts think twice before buying you might be better off! I'm sticking to my guns on this as I am telling the truth!!!
