Rapid Cable bought out our local Charter Cable Company in January 2007. Since then, it has been an absolute joke. When I went to their local office nearby to upgrade to digital cable so that we could get pay per view, I was told that the pay per view has not worked in our area since Rapid took Charter over. Then last month, I went to our local office to pay my bill as I have done ever since we got cable. I just do not like mailing it in if I can take it in person and be sure they got it. The office was closed that morning, but they had cut personnel down to one in the office when they took over, and it was only about eight o'clock a.m., so I just thought the lady was running late that morning. Needless to say, I forgot about going back. Got the bill this month, and the next day they came out and cut my service off. This is not the problem, that was my fault for not paying the bill on time. However, when I went to pay my bill at the local office, I discovered that the local office has been closed since January 31, 2008. The note was not on the door the last time I had gone there. I was livid! And still am. Apparently this company just goes around buying out other companies and then their customers are left at their mercy. They have no website that I am aware of, and getting through to them on the phone is impossible. The note on the door said that I could shove a check under the door though....yeah, right, like I'm going to do that not knowing whether or not a human will ever go back in there! Do not, I repeat, do not do business with this company if you have a choice. We live in a rural area and they are the only game in town so to speak. I have contacted Dish Network but they have told me that it will be around $750 to install satellite on all our televisions. Anybody got any suggestions????
