We returned today from a "free" night & dinner at Legends Resort in Macfee, NJ. It was to sell us time share($28,000.!). The place was dirty, the man that showed us atound for 2 hours was so drunk he could not talk or walk right & he smelled like he was drinking all day! When we told them our rooms were unfit, they told us too bad, these are the "free" rooms. Stay away! The host in the Dining Room had a filthy mouth.

How to use the RCI timeshare exchange system

AUTHOR: StephieW - ()

POSTED: Thursday, January 23, 2014

Despite RCI is one of the biggest timeshare exchange companies in the world, you still have to be very careful before exchanging your week, as there are many things that could go wrong during the process. Take into consideration that you have to book the resort as soon as possible, sometimes even up to two years in advance, which can be a problem for some families. Also, you must know that a membership fee needs to be paid, whether you exchange your timeshare or not

RCI RIPOFFS sounds fishy to me

AUTHOR: Veronica - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 28, 2004

This complaint is not relevent to the complaints listed before, other than to complain about RCI ripoffs in general. My sister and I bought our timeshare in West Palm Beach, FLA. about three years ago and have regretted it ever since. My sister used to be able to reserve our vacations herself, but this year rci says she's not in their system and cannot do this anymore. I am the only who can reserve the weeks, however our weekly payments come out of her account. That's one.
Everytime I try to book a resort, I get some bull#### about their not being any weeks available either at that time or in the area I want. I always get some other lame suggestion when the whole reason I bought this crap is to travel in nice resorts in areas "I" would like to go, not places rci feels like sending me. I'm starting to get the feeling that rci really does't have resorts in all the places they say they do, and instead lie about it and say thier booked until 2006 for those areas. I'm checking into that, by the way. That's two.
In the past I have travelled twice a year, once using my week and another time using a bonus week, and have always paid no more than $179 for the exchange. NOW, rci comes out with their usual crap and says I have to pay anywhere from $325 to $600 to use a bonus week. In that case I would have never bought the time share and just saved my money to book MY own reservations in places I would like to travel at MY convenience. It would have been cheaper, especially since my sister and I pay $275 a month. We also pay $400 a year for maintenance fees, so that if I actually did plan to travel, let's say Italy, after 2006, I would have to pay two years worth of maintenance fees, which comes out to $800. Add our monthly fees, and that comes out to about $7,700 dollars for ONE FREAKIN' TRIP! That's three! Shall I continue?
I have also tried to sign up for a password to the rci site twice and have not received any response in the past two months. What good is it to see the resorts on the site and not be able to reserve? I'm extremely frustrated and am seriously looking to sue. If anyone feels the same, please contact me at 732-778-1361.
And, if a CEO would like to contact me, it better be to get me out of this contract, which by the way, I cannot get a copy of after two years of requesting. Hmmm....sounds fishy to me.
I'll be writing the media next.

I WAS THERE!

AUTHOR: Donna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 15, 2003

I also had a very bad experience a Legends in New Jersey. My room was dirty, the man that helped us was drunk, the hotel is being used for wefare families at this time. The hotel is in VERY bad shape. They told us it is being renovated, it should be done before they bring people there. We did not even have hot water to shower! They told us the time share was owned by rci & even gave us RCI books.Don't go there!!!!!

I've had no problems with RCI

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 13, 2003

I've had no problems whatsoever in my dealings with RCI. I got fast account access, and they acknolwedged an website database problem affecting everybody within mere hours.

Perhaps the complainer is barking up the wrong tree, and should address the complaints to the management company of the property, and to the sales operator. RCI just helps people exchange timeshares.

But on the property's website, they are using an RCI Gold Crown Resort logo http://www.golegends.com/New%20Happenings.htm#art-2 , but out of curiousity, I checked the RCI website, and they are NOT Gold Crown, or even of Distiction. In fact there are lots of RCI logos, but no links to their management company, or even to the manager.

I don't get a good feeling from this place. I don't think I'll stay there either. If I were RCI, I'd be p*ssed about it.

re: company that doesn't give a dam

AUTHOR: Kathy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 23, 2003

My question to you sir is How does this involve RCI. We are a timeshare exchange. We do not own any time shares. We are simply the middle man for you to use so that you can visit other resorts that otherwise you would not be able to use. We can not and do not represent the individual resorts. In your case I would report this to the GM of the resort and if the sales person was a rep from RCI then why not call them directly and speak to the Sales department.
