On June 2nd my son who just returned from the military, drove with me to Redlands ford Ca. to turn his truck in for service.

When my son got out of his truck, he placed all his CD's and DVD's which he had collected since boot camp behind his drivers seat.

The Redlands Ford customer service representative wrote up the service invoice, handed to him and we left.

Later that Day I was informed that the vehicle would not be ready until late in the evening, therefore we asked Redlands Ford if we could pick up the vehicle in the morning.

The next day I picked up my son and took him to Redlands Ford, to pick up his vehicle which was parked in their secure parking in the back.

My son drove away, however within a few minutes he called me to tell me his CD's and DVD's ( value over $400 ) were missing from his truck.

I called Redlands Ford right away to report the theft, I was told that the manager would call me back, however after several hours, I had to call back.

When I called Redlands Ford back, the attitude was " oh well " report it to your insurance company.

There was no respect towards us as a customer or any desire to make it right, it was like, your fault, deal with it.

This was so disrespectful to treat a customer and a returning military serviceman this way. This was his collection from boot camp through special ops training.

I sent a e-mail to the manager of Redlands Ford and Ford Motor Company Mich., however there has been no reply in over 12 days.

I would suggest any customer who goes to Redlands Ford to be careful, they were also known as the Auto-Nation and have a bad reputation in the community.

I think it is ashamed that the vehicle was in the care of Redlands Ford, locked behind their gate, getting repaired and they can accept no responsibility for what happened.

Exculpatory clause - don't buy it

AUTHOR: Shane - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 17, 2005

A lot of people don't realize that they have rights in these situations. The statment on the form is an exculpatory clause -- total bs when an establishment invites people in to conduct business. So when you see these signs (like at hotels), don't let them bully you.

Because your son signed the work order (or did he?) it may be a little harder to deal with. Not to mention states with poor consumer-rights laws. In any case, the dealer should be willing to do the right thing for a customer who got screwed like this -- and I would at least let people know their folks steal from customers.

I mean your son no disrespect

The paperwork that you receive from Ford when you turn in the truck for service says that they are not responsible for items that are left in the car.

If the collection was that valuable than you should not have left them in the car. What proof does Ford have other than your word that they were there?

I thank your son for his service in defending us and God Bless him and all the troops serving this great country.
