Reel Media Group (http://reelmediagroup.com) did not help me find employment at a small market television news station. I did a reel with them and they told me that the reel I will do with them will get me a job a small market tv station. My coach was a no-show on the day of the reel shoot. I used their job catalyst program and it hasn't help me get an entry-level job at an entry-level/starter market (small market) station as reporter or any other tv news positions. I used TVJobs.com, RateMyStation.com, JournalismJobs.com, and other sites to submit my reel and applied for jobs and it didn't work.  For me, it didn't get me a job as a reporter (or even a job in the industry for that matter!).

I don't recommend Stephanie from Reel Media Group, because she will only try to sell you on the services she offers, which may or may not help. After my time with Reel Media, small-market tv news directors told me that using Reel Media Group and other television news reel companies is essentially cutting corners; they do the shooting and editing for you,  News directors will look at the reel from Reel Media Group and know that you used a company and it will hurt your chances since it doesn't display your full body of work required for the position. Reel Media Group also refused to allow me to use any of my reporting work that I did on my own in graduate school saying that it will not help you.

All Stephanie Tsoflia Siegel (who has worked at WBBH-TV, WPIX-TV, News12 Long Island, some small tv station in Gainesville, FL, and currently at TVSpy.com)  wants is your money. The job catalyst program and access membership community all requires a large sum of money to help find employment. The news directors and other members Reel Media Group brought to various sessions were not helping people find work in the television news industry.

Reel Media Group is very similar to America Broadcast Talent (https://www.americanbroadcasttalent.com) and other television news reel companies. Reel Media Group does not help its clients find employment at all small market tv stations and all 210 Nielsen DMA media markets. Stephanie and Reel Media Group do not care about what happens to you and your career.

Also once you finished your reel, they will put your reel on YouTube without your consent and will never ever take it down. She didn't help me and she will not help you. She and her team are just here to make money.

Stephanie Tosflias Siegel (Founder of Reel Media Group) Isn't Telling the Truth

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (United States)

POSTED: Monday, September 24, 2018

What Stephanie Tosflias Siegel (founder of Reel Media Group) is saying is a lie.  First of all, I tried the job catalyst program and it did not worked for me and other participants from Reel Media Group especially those who do not have any help or assistance from their college or university. Reel Media Group ask for money to participate in the program and to keep having a reel showcase month after month.

See the job catalyst program contractural agreement which does ask for money in addition to its community access membership. It even ask for more money if Reel Media Group gets a job for you and if you use the Job Catalyst Program to find a job. If you know the on-air talent reel services that Reel Media Group provides does not lead to any or some of its participants (current, previous, and future participants) reporter jobs, then why are you offering this service when it really does not work.

Some of your participants who tried your program are getting passed over for non-tv news reporter jobs that they don't even want and are really stuck in them and cannot be a reporter. Ask your each and every of your former participants that you created a reel for, if they really have a job in television news as a reporter.

Many don't from doing this program and are still strugging finding their first television news reporter job. Some of your participants who have done reels with you have reels from their college/university which is gave them a job - they have their college/university journalism school to thank for that. But for others like myself that have tried Reel Media Group (and other tv news broadcast reel companies) don't have that first television news job nor anyone else to thank.

News directors expect all their job candidates to write, shoot, and edit their own news story packages which must be evident in a tv news reel. None of the reels seen from Reel Media Group have this at all. Talk to each and every of your participants from 2010-2018 and onward and see if Reel Media Group's demo reel services really and actually helped them find their first television news job.

For many of your participants it didn't work and some of them got passed over reporter jobs and are stuck with non-on-air jobs when they really want to be a reporter.

Hi,

This is Stephanie.

We want to reiterate that we provide an opportunity for aspiring reporters to create a reel if they don't have the chance to do so in school. We also give them a chance to learn from reporters who are doing the exact job they hope to be doing someday. This is a unique program that is focused on mentorship and guidance. That being said, we do not make any promises that the reel you create during your time with us will land you a job. For most people, it has and that makes us very happy. As for your note about the job program, we provide a valuable service to those who don't have help otherwise finding a job. We do not take a penny from any particpant upfront as you suggested. That's simply untrue.

Again, if you had a bad experience offer you the opportunity to try again. Thank you.
