Reeves Audi Reeves Import Motorcar Incorrect assessment and diagnostic Tampa Florida
Brought my Audi around the 1st of September for service under a extended warranty I purchased for the vehicle. Two days later Audi finally had the opportunity to bring it into the shop to perform a diagnostic for $354 dollars on it and find out why it's making a ticking sound under the hood, but before they could start to perform a diagnostic the mechanic told service that the car was out of timing by one tooth (timing belt) and timing would correction would have to be done before moving forward.
I ask how did he come to that conclusion, service rep and manager explained to me that mechanic removed front engine cover and visually analyzed it. I asked did he check the rest of the belt for rips or is it worn out on a tooth. Service rep told me to find that out we would need $724 to proceed forward and find out and that would then include adjustment and possibly a new timing belt if needed. Any other reason as to why my car would be off timing still would have to pay $724 to find out.
Contacted warranty company to see if they would cover it and they said no because right now a adjustment needs to be done and we don't cover adjustments just failed parts. I said OK. So I called Audi and asked them if it was possible to just take my car since nothing has really been done on it, Audi said yeah after you pay $140 dollars for part of the diagnostic, but they never got to do any diagnostic to it.
So I paid the fee and and towed it over to a german repair shop and had them perform a diagnostic on the same issue I explained to Audi and I watched as the mechanic took the front cover off and rotated the engine to find out the timing and everything turned out dead center and perfectly aligned, the mechanic asked me why did Audi say the car had a timing issue when everything is fine here with timing; I watched everything done with your own eyes. So basically Audi lied to me with a straight face.
I called Audi back real nice, being myself no yelling and asked if it was possible have my money returned to me since my mechanic proved to me that the timing was fine and that I have written proof from him and Audi said unfortunately no we can not. So I basically just got ripped off for a crappy diagnostic and assessment. Wasted money just to have the car come back to me the same way i brought it into Audi. In the end the mechanic at the German repair shop ended up replacing a camshaft adjustment tensioner related to the cam chain timing and timing belt and getting it covered under my warranty, Audi still refusing to return my money back.
