In April of 2009 I had the misfortune of answering a call from a Reliable Remodeler salesman and accepted their offer of a free month of their services.  In the entire month of May there was only one potential contact in my work area seemed hardly worth the time to bid it.  They still wanted to charge $20.00 for the referral.

Near the end of May I was getting ready to contact Reliable Remodeler and cancel the service and noticed a charge for $29.95 on my debit card.  So much for the free month.  Since I had already paid, I decided to stick with it for one more month.  Based on my experience that month, I should have cancelled then.  I received three or four leads that I accepted.  Of those leads, I received no business and it cost me over $100.00.  You are not charged until you accept the lead.  Unfortunately their lead description is misleading at best.  Their idea of a major window replacement contact that they wanted $40.00 for was five windows or more.  It was as if they had barely spoken to the contacts about the specifics of the job.  When I questioned the salesman about this, he said that they can't spend that much time asking questions about the job or they wouldn't make any money.

Since I had received a few leads, I thought I would try it one more month.  I didn't have to worry about continuing the service as they have a policy that you have to notify they ten days prior to cancelling.  One more month and a few more leads.  The same things happened.  As soon as you accepted the bid, your card was charged and you received the contact information.  Usually you found that the info that Reliable Remodeler placed in their initial job offering was misleading or incomplete.  Once they had gotten their money and sent you the contact, their job was done.

Out of the eight referrals that I accepted, not a single person responded back to my bids.  They had little time and no money invested in the process and couldn't take their time to at least respond to my efforts.  This was a very expensive and frustrating experience for me.  There are more effective ways for a Remodeling Contractor to spend their money on advertising and see better returns.

If you are a Remodeling Contractor and are thinking of using the services of Reliable Remodeler, please reconsider.  They charge you $29.95 per month just to receive their services, then you pay high fees ($20.00-$100.00), up front for incomplete and overstated scopes of work.  There are many better ways to spend your advertising dollars locally.  Don't make my mistake.
