Well, I've been ripped off like everyone else, but with one key difference: from what I have read, everyone has gone to a meeting, been scared into giving these people their money. . . I NEVER went to a meeting!
I just received this letter for a collections company called Remex, Inc., saying that my account with 21st Century Rp had been put into collections. The total was $767.90.
I was very surprised, as I had no clue who 21st Century Rp was! I immediately called the collectors, and they said 21st Century Rp had sold me Royal Prestige products (actually, he kept calling them Prestige Royale, which was fishy enough..). Well, I had to ask him what Royal Prestige was! I had no idea. He said something about pots and pans, and that is when I remembered a series of phone calls I began receiving shortly after purchasing my wedding gown at a David's Bridal almost a year ago.
Same story as everyone else: I had "won" a trip! All I had to do was go look at some pots and pans, no obligation to buy... well, I told them the first THREE TIMES I "WON" that I was not interested. The next time I "won," they called me three times in one week and kept harrassing me to go to this meeting! I was fed up, so I made certain that I was under no obligation to buy anything, and she told me no, I just had to go look at pots and pans. So I made the appointment, with NO INTENTION of going. I NEVER went to said appointment!!!
Fast forward to a year later. I never heard from 21st Century RP again, except when they called once more to let me know I had magically "won" again! I never received any letters or anything about a bill... until now, when this debt collector sent me one. A little odd, don't you think? Most companies really hassle you if you owe a debt and do all they can BEFORE putting it into collections, from what I know. I put in my written dispute of the validity of the claim with the collector and I called him, but he was very unsympathetic and does not believe me.
I called 21st Century Rp, but they are giving me the run-around as well. This is weighing on me and stressing me very heavily, as these charges are completely fraudulent, and now that they have been put into collections this is affection my credit score! Not good when I am going to be purchasing my first brand-new vehicle in the next few months. I'm also moving after my wedding, and if I have to take this into court this could affect my ability to relocate as I am moving 1000 miles away.
I emailed Royal Prestige to ask them to show me where I ordered these products, but no response yet. I don't expect one.
I am so frustrated, and I just don't know where to turn. I am going to go to my local police station tomorrow morning and see if there is anything at all that they can tell me. After all, these charges are completely fraudulent, and from what I've read these products are only available from these meetings (?), and I never went to a meeting . . . and isn't filing fraudulent charges and then putting it into collections and messing with my credit score without even contacting me once about it some sort of crime?
If anyone else has had this happen to them without ever attending a meeting, ordering anything, or giving them any money, please, please let me know.
