I attended Remington College for 1 yr. I was pursuing a degree in the Criminal Justice field. Durning the application process I expressed interest in working for the local Police Departments. I was accepted into the school and attended with plans to work for Dallas Police Department.

After about 9 months I discovered that my education from Remington would not permit me to apply with the Dallas PD after I received the needed amount of college hrs or credits. I questioned the Director of the Criminal Justice program and the Dean of the school regarding the benefit of the education that I was paying for.

I explained to them both that I had discovered that Dallas PD requires candidates to be 21 years of age with 45 semester units from an accredited(regionally) college or 19 years of age with 60 semester units. I explained to them my plans of appying with some of the local PD's.

I was told that I would need to alter my plans and "play there games and tranfer my credits to a regionally accredited school so that I can apply in the field in which I was going to school." I was surprised at how they brused my concerns under the rug and had what they thought was such an easy and simple solution.

Subsequently, I left the college in February. I made a verbal (first mistake) agreement with the Vice President that they would refund my student loans because I felt like I had been misled and lied to regarding the benefit of the education.

There were 4 repayments on my loans and then they stopped. I called the VP and inquired of the status of the loans. He told me that they had recanted on the offer because I shared with other students the situation with the credits.

This so unfair for these "career" schools to prey on people that have the desire to further their education and be totally misled in to thinking this education is actually a stepping stone to improving there lives.

I am livid that the goverment allows schools/colleges to operate under FALSE pretenses. I LOST OVER A YEAR OF MY LIFE and THOUSANDS of DOLLARS FOR an EDUCATION that HAS NOT AND WILL NOT BENEFIT ME. I must start all over in DEBT and still will not get back the time I lost.

Thank you for wanting to be one of the DPD - we citizens of Dallas always want a committed individual patrolling our streets and looking out for our best interest - enroll in your local community college - get as many grants as you can and if that does not work get back to me - I am sure my church can help you - You are the kind of dedicated individual that Chief Kunkel looks for - I am sooo sorry you had to go through that "school" for I would never trust a school that advertising on the Jerry Springer show - I am serious about this - go to El Centro, Brookhaven, Richland - and if you need financial help let me know
