I was attempting to renew my Texas state auto registration. I typed the website for the Texas Dept. of Motor Vehicles, but clicked on the link www.renewregistrations.org instead of going to the actual TX DMV website.   I did not realize that I was on a 3rd party site and I started verifying my address to renew the registration. When I put in my credit card information I was brought to a screen notifying me of my purchase of a Road Guide and a service that would verify my ability to renew my registration online for my state, and assist me in doing that.

I called their customer support number to have them refund my money. The agent tried to explain the service they provided and talk me into keeping the service. When I told him I wanted a refund, he attempted to only refund the $19.xx for the Road Guide, but not the 'non-refundable' $3.xx service fee.  

It was not until I demanded that he refund the entire amount that he agreed to do so.  The transaction to charge me for the service was instantaneous. The refund will take 7 - 10 business days before I receive it, so now I have to monitor my account to make sure they do refund the full amount.

My fault for not paying attention to what I was clicking on, and not reading the details before I entered my credit card # and clicked Ok, but still a hassle, and I think it represents a possible headache for those who do not know better or do not catch the error.
