I ordered a photobooth from this company on April 22, 2008 8 for my sister's June 7, 2008 wedding. The booth was fully paid for by may 19, 2008. I ordered 3 hours or use time plus 3 idle hours with a projection slideshow for an extra 250.00. The photobooth was scheduled to be working form 3-10pm and to be worked by a professional attendent all night.

The attendent arrived 35 minutes late and did not get the booth set up til 5:30pm. He repeated 'he had never worked with one of these before' the projection screen was not sent, I was promised a personalized custom logo which was not delivered. The photobooth was a digital camera, computer, and printer, not an old fashion booth as promised. The photobooth kept breaking throughout the night and was only working properlly taking photos and printing images for about 45 mins of the entire day.

When I called for my refund he said I needed to refer to my contract, the same contract that promised he would provide the services listed above, to see about my refund. The website advertises a free online image hosting where guests can view there photos when I asked about this, he said this service was no longer offered and it was not in my contract anyway. The contract states if not printing properly the company will provide a website. Numerous guests got ink on their dresses from the broken printer.

The attendent took down the booth at 9pm and helped himself to coffee and food at the wedding, even thought never oked by the people running the event or any of the guests.

The contract also states any changes ot the contract must be sent in writing by either the client or provider and signed by both parties. I never oked there not to be a projection screen or no logo, or time changes. When I explained this, the owner, Rolland Elliot, explained he was not refunding anything til he got his equipment back and could look at his computer. Even though the attendent called him in front of me to say the projection screen, logo, and printer were not working properly.

About as dishonest as they come. Fraudster.

AUTHOR: Elphman - ()

POSTED: Saturday, April 26, 2014

This guy lies and a cheats and has zero remorse. He buys a camera from me that was in perfect condition. He then uses and abuses it for 2 weeks until he breaks it. Then he has the nerve to lay a claim against me. The camera is returned with pieces missing and the body mangled with gouges and scratches. EBay has a money back guarantee for buyers so he get refuned the price of the camera and the shipping costs too. Unscrupulous, dirty, dishonest to a degree not often seen. He has multiple complaints from the BBB bureau in Charlotte, NC and has even made it into their "Dirty Dozen" with an "F" rating. The police need to called in to investigate this guy for fraud so he can be fined and thrown in jail.

Thanks so much for all these postings. I was about to become an employee of this company, but after reading these posts how not only customers but contractors are treated, I'll seek alternative employment.

We were seeking secondary employment for myself so as to continue living and paying for our house. After reading what i have read, I would rather foreclose than degrade my proffesionalism, let alone be part of misleading customers.

#4 UPDATE Employee

I'm the latest employee of Rolland Elliott however I will NOT be the latest victim...

AUTHOR: Wiseone - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 26, 2008

I answered an ad on craigslist for "Rolland Elliott" and was contacted by an employee on 10/20/08 to do a job for them on 10/24/08 at a very expensive wedding in the Pocono's. My interview for this job consisted of a single question over the phone by the employee. The question was, "How do you hook up a printer to a laptop?" I chuckled then after seeing she was serious I answered the question. She said "good you passed"! I was later given a second wedding to go to on the next day 10/ 25th.

The reception started at 7:00 pm and I was told to be there 45 minutes before hand to set up all the equipment. The only prior knowledge I was given was to watch a poor video online of Mr. Elliott himself setting up the booth. I say a poor video because it was too basic and did not give enough detailed information.
My package arrived by UPS a half an hour after I was supposed to leave for my destination! I was told to set up the equipment before I left...good idea if I had the time. Mr. Elliott did advise me on the phone to check the laptop before I left, he must have known this unit was damaged as it would not boot up. There was duct tape adhesive all over the laptop and after I spent over an hour trying to repair the unit I made no progress. The equipment was beat up and the supplies to make the job work were missing. (Printer cartridges, scissors, Cd's, etc.) My common sense told me there was no way I would go to a an event of that stature with equipment that was sub par. I did get a call from the head of the resort where the wedding was taking place and I was the victim of her furry for being a no show.

The next day I was given directions to a home to pick up a second box of equipment since the one I had was inoperable. I objected to Mr. Elliott because the expense of fuel and time was getting to be too much. He assured me I would get fuel expense and travel time for my trouble. Funny that was never mentioned before, I have a good idea why.

I arrived an hour before the wedding and this was not close to enough time for someone having no experience with this set up. It was hardly enough time for someone VERY experienced with this set up. Reason being that again the equipment did not work properly. Being as good at trouble shooting as I am, it still took me 4 hours to mix and match equipment to get the Booth to work! Lucky for me the grooms mother was a very nice woman and did not rip me a new one!

The printer that Mr. Rolland wanted me to use night before was absolutely useless!!! I would have traveled over three hours drive time to a very high priced wedding with equipment that didn't work and been assaulted by the Bride and the person in charge of the even, and rightly so!!
This is someone's Wedding and they were paying a lot of money for this service! When I expressed my concern to Mr. Elliott he said to me " Oh they always think their wedding is so important."

Thank goodness for this website as it confirmed what I had already thought...that this Man and his company is nothing short of a disgrace!

I am almost positive I will not be paid for all my work. I'll chalk it up as a lesson learned and I will do everything I can to make sure this does not happen to any other potential employees or future customers.

One more thing, while talking to the woman who was in charge of shipping and administrative duties for Mr. Elliott, I said to her..." you sound very busy" her response was " We have 22 events this weekend".
Twenty two events at one thousand dollars a piece is a lot of money. More than enough to pay employees and have proper equipment!

Time to go play with my new laptop.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

POSTED: Sunday, October 12, 2008

i am an ex employee of rolland's. i was hired to work an event the end of sept 08. i answered a craigslist add seeking a part time independant contractor for their events. sounded simple enough, right? i was told by the company that i would receivce the necessary equipment 2 weeks prior to the wedding i was to work. when ups delivered two boxes, they informed me that a third was yet to arrive. i informed renee of this at perfect portraits. she told me not to worry that it was enroute. i continued to let her know everyday after that i had still not received the box. everyday she told me not to worry. wednesday prior to the wedding, she told me ups 'esentially lost the box' and she was overnighting me this third box. she told me to let her know if i didn't receive the box by fri. i got the box on fri and went to the wedding on saturday as contracted.
the directions sent to me via email were horrible. they kept referring to 'pictures below' as examples, but there were none. they equipment was not working properly and when i called rolland for help he told me to ask the dj for ducktape and make it work. i did make it work, but was embarresed by the quality of the equipment.
they agreed upon arrangment for payment was that once renee had ups conformation of the equipment being sent back to her that i would receive payment via paypal. i sent the 3 boxes back on monday and sent a paypal request for payment on tuesday i called and inquired as to my payment as ups had confirmed the shipment of the 3 boxes. renee told me she wasnt' in charge of the finances and became rude and short on the phone. after several phone calls i finally got ahold of rolland and he informed me that he was not going to pay me for my time. he had to pay 200 to overnight the third box to me and that was my contracted payment amount and so now i would not be paid.
my heart was racing and i was furious, but i did think to call ups and i requested a package intercept for the box that had the camera and laptop in it. i let the other 2 boxes continue to rolland. 2 weeks later i received that box again and i called rolland to tell him i refused to send it back to him unless he paid me. i did FINALLY get payment, but this man is shady and unethical. he was full of threats and just plain mean. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN FOR ANYTHING. and work for him at your own risk........

Unpaid Worker

AUTHOR: Maureen C - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 23, 2008

I worked for Rent A Photobooth aka Rolland Elliot on August 23rd, 2008. I have not been paid yet. I am not sure I expect to be paid after reading about his less than ethical business practices on the web. I should have known better than to take a job with a small company. So if you take a job from Rolland do not expect to be paid anytime in the near future.
I would also like to say that although this type of photobooth is cheaper to rent you may not like it. You get what you pay for. The so called 'photo booth attendants' are usually folks that Rolland get off of craiglist and are not trained. The 'photobooth' used for my assignment had problems with the printer and the curtain that you put up around the metal frame. The printer kept eating sheets of photo paper and the curtain part of the booth was very dusty and dirty.
I have a heard that Mr. Elliot threatens people that post 'bad' reviews of his services on the Internet. At this point I would welcome a call to find out when and if he is planning to pay me for six hours of service and drive time on August 23rd.
