Both my and my father signed up for their electric distirbution service. My fathers bill at it's HIGHEST in the winter with Penn Power was about 250. This year? One month with Respond it was 266 (including Penn Power's charges). Ok, sounds right. This month?? 383.41 JUST in charges from Respond Power. The total bill is over 400 dollars! When I spoke to them, they lied about how it worked with PCAP. They said that you couldn't have PCAP and Respond Power. That should have been a red flag. When I asked Penn Power about it, they said that distribution companies don't want you to have PCAP because it takes them longer to get their money. Anyway,my bill has also gone up. When I signed up with them, Penn Power's price to compare was 5.9 cents per KWH. Responds was 5 cents per KWH. When I look at my bill now? Respond is charging 11 cents per KWH and Penn Power's is 6 cents per KWH!!! I did the math, and my bill (if I kept Penn Power) would be 245 for distribution charges. My bill from Respond? 491!!
I am filing a complaint with both the BBB, and my state AG.

I almost had my electric shut off because of how high their bills were. I payed Penn Powers portion and some over to try and cover these high bills. When I got my shut off notice, I called Penn Power, cancelled Respond and set up a payment plan. The bill attached is the result.

Two guys came to my door offering me a cheaper electric bill. They described to me how they are competing with other electric companies and can give me 10% off what am I currently paying with my local electric company. I fell for it figuring a company big enough to sell energy can't possibly be lying right? So I signed the paper. I was paying 8 cents/kwh so I figured on 6 to 7 cents/kwh and was very thankful to these gentleman. Well my first bill came and it was double, 15 cents/kwh. I was unhappy but I need electricity so I paid it but immediately got on the phone and asked to switch back. Well the next months bill came and now I was up to 25 cents/kwh. I called them back and the CSR said, well mam' you signed a paper saying you would pay a variable rate. Well I have th carbon copy and the "variable rate" is NOT checkmarked so I didnt sign anything that said variable rate, the only thing I can think is they checkmarked it after they left. Then she hung up on me because me and my husband were on speaker phone and she said she would not put up with that. We waited 40 minutes on hold the first time so instead of calling back I called my original electric company and they said their rate was still 8 cents and she would start me right back up that day. My electric bill is unpayable, I have to break it up over 6 months for a bill that is usually only $75. I signed the papers to switch but the account isnt even in my name, its in my husbands name. How can they come to my door selling a cheaper rate and then charge me triple? How can they get away with that?
