In 2001 my fiance' and I purchased a couch and love seat from the Rhodes furniture store in Orlando. In December when I moved my couch out for the Christmas tree I found that a spring had popped out and is pushing against the fabric in the back. This couch is rarely used as I prefer the love seat and it is my opinion this is a structural defect. When I contacted Rhodes and attempted to have it repaired I was told I would have to have it repaired at my own expense. I spoke with the office Manager whos name is Elizabeth and she relayed my request to the Store manager, Carla Griffith, who also stated they would not repair it. I have written a letter to the Corporate office and my fiance' and I will never purchase another piece of furniture from Rhodes again due to their policy, lack of concern for customer satisfaction and apparent poor quality product.

Rhodes 5 year warranty

I have read a lot of comments about Rhodes furniture and the quality of it. First of all Rhodes was NOT a manufacturer and simply purchased furniture for resale. The financing was an outside provider and so were most of the extended warranties, except for the FABRIC and LEATHER warranties, these were owned by Rhodes and were dissolved when Rhodes went bankrupt. Most 5 year extended warranties still remain effective if it was through Voyager / Assurant solutions, from the date of PURCHASE.

The ones complaining about the financing should have read the fine print, it is no different than financing at any other retail furniture chain. As for the quality of the furniture it is the manufacturer's to blame not the retailer. Most furniture comes with a one year warranty from the manufacturer.

As far as replacement parts they all come directly from the manufacturer of that piece of furniture. I have seen many situations with Rhodes and their customers and I agree proffession wasn't always used, but typically the customer won the battle and received repairs or replacement.

If you are under a 5 year extended plan most of them are still being serviced for core problems, structure, defective stitching on open seams (not tears or cracking and splitting!) and mechanisms. Hope this helps. When furniture goes bad it is not good and sales people will tell you anything to buy something, so please beware and check out the manufacturer as well as the retailer.
