Richard C. Wayne and Associates:
Contingency Fees are not their policy. That is fine, but know that before you call them or waste your time later on.
Consult was $250, immediately required a sizeable retainer which was used up fairly quickly.
Reports we relied on, and that were billed heavily, had many errors within each report that had to be corrected (by the client) before being noticed by Mr. Wayne. A date that was of vital importance was wrong on important documents sent out to four different parties. Mr. Wayne "accidentally" billed us for $75 more per hour than our agreed-upon fee for a full month before being corrected (by the client after perusing the bill). Billed us for phone calls and emails for referring us to a new attorney in non-verifiable fashion. Call from his "senior attorney" in their office (they only have one) was billed at same rate (which was agreed to) but never accomplished anything, total waste of time and money. In the end, and after over $10,000 was spent, very little actual legal research was accomplished in over three months of representation.
Did he try to convince us that our case was so good that it would be foolish to not spend much, much more money with his firm in order to file our complaint, which was not really in our best interest from a monetary standpoint? Yes.
Was he the absolute worst attorney I have ever seen (I have worked for many different law firms in the past 12 years as a professional)? No.
Did we get our money's worth? No.
Would he take our case on a contingency basis due to the amount of money required to go forward? No. Which was fine.
We chose to transfer our case to a different attorney.
On a A-E scale, like school, I would rate him a C-
On a 10 scale, with 10 being thorough and good, with his client's best interests in mind, a 3 at best.
