In July 2004 we purchased a horse from Lone Star W Ranch, below is the story about this horse. We were told that he had a superficial injury to his back left leg but had healed to full capacity. It was understood that he would be used for a variety of disciplines and we were assured that this horse was fully sound and workable. We were also told we didn't need a vet check as their vet had already done one on him for another potential buyer.

Being first time horse owners we took their professional opinions and on a handshake we bought "Pete". We renamed him MoJo and went on our way. Not long after purchasing him he came up lame on that same hind leg that had only had a superficial cut on it. I called my vet and received horrible news about his 'old' injury.

We found out that his superficial cut was actually a severed deep digital flexor tendon and a partially severed superficial digital flexor tendon. These tendons had healed together when they healed and had a huge hole in them. Our vet said that this horse should have been euthanized when the original cut occurred and that he was sure that he would never recover from this.

My family is completely devastated because of this. We have contacted Lone Star W Ranch and all they have to say is "well you should have gotten a vet check". Well while this is true being first time horse buyers we were not aware that people would intentionally sell you a horse that was doomed from the start. Needless to say I will never recommend any one to do business with them, as a matter of fact I say "BUYER BEWARE".

Selling Horses

AUTHOR: Cindy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 14, 2005

I am a close friend that started as a client of the reported individuals. I almost bought this horse myself, only reason I didn't is that I was out of room at my barn. Although he previously suffered an injury, Pete (aka Mojo) had a letter from a renowned vet clearing his health and stating he was perfectly capable of any work. Katey and Glenn would sell him for certain kinds of work, for instance racing, as a precaution. Kym was given this information. Lone Star W Ranch did not intentionally sell an injured horse.

While I understand Kym's dissappointment (and am personally saddened by the loss of Pete), and the anguish of losing a loved horse - it was not fraud or a rip off on behalf of Lone Star W Ranch, Katey and Glenn Williams.
